And I've scared myself reading the threads about side effects !! Tell me I'm not going to shit myself !

Well done. I just did my first one half an hour ago. I was thinking of waiting until the weekend but all the 'what ifs' were playing on my mind too much so I just wanted to get it over with.

I'm not too worried but a tad bit apprehensive about side effects. Mostly nausea. I wfh the latter half of the week so can cope with going to the loo a bit more. I hate feeling sick though.

Maybe there will be next to nothing. See what happens in the morning I suppose as it's done now!

meteow · 10/09/2024 22:11

@OvaHere Well done yourself ! Yes maybe we not get any ? I hope not !
I used to take metformin 1500mg and I've never experienced urgency like it 😆 it was unbelievable how fast and out of nowhere I'd need to go so I'm hoping that don't happen with this...

I am a little worried about what I'm supposed to be eating though as I don't want to set off any bad heartburn or trapped wind.

Yes. I'm not sure what I should eat tomorrow. I don't have much fresh stuff in. All the stuff I've prepped for in the food shop isn't arriving until Thursday morning. I probably should have waited to take the first one but I'm impatient. I do have some protein shakes and some soup so maybe that will be fine?

meteow · 10/09/2024 22:17

@OvaHere Soup sounds like a good idea actually. I need to get some protein shakes, where do you get yours from ?

I did the shop the other day but probably won't want to eat any of the meals I had planned !

I usually buy the UFit shakes in bulk from Costco (I do strength training) but not been for a while so this batch I just bought on Amazon. I also buy the Aldi ones sometimes as they are nice although the strawberry always sells out quickly.

OvaHere · 10/09/2024 22:21

A lot of people use protein powder and make up their own shakes. It's probably cheaper but I'm a bit lazy. 😁

Theredjellybean · 10/09/2024 22:24

I did my first today at 3 pm
Still ate hugest dinner
No side effects yet
But strangely thought " oooh there's chocolate in the fridge" I could imagine how nice it tastes but just couldn't be bothered to go and get it...so maybe it's working?

I could do this too but seems easier and probably nicer to just buy some 😆

Hopefully that is a good sign? We had dinner before I did my first injection and I'm starving now as I didn't eat it all, gutted !

Oh well done and good luck .

3wDavid · 11/09/2024 05:08

Congratulations, and yes, you will be totally fine. However, it doesn’t hurt to have a few essentials at hand - imodium, mint tea (if your tummy is upset), good quality protein drinks or powder (as a last resort if you can’t face any food). Good luck! It’s an incredible journey!

meteow · 11/09/2024 06:10

Thanks all, really hoping I can shift this extra fat. I've had 2 babies in 1.5 years and it's all on my stomach, back and arms, plus with c sections I have the lovely overhang !!

So last night (and this is an awful habit of mine) I woke up and raided the cookie jar 🙄 really need to stop doing that !!!

That's a bit rubbish. Hope it passes soon. I don't feel anything yet which is also making me a bit paranoid. Did I do it properly? Is it going to work? Not even sure if any appetite suppression is happening as I rarely eat before 10am anyway.

meteow · 11/09/2024 10:11

@OvaHere Well you're probably just lucky to be honest ! The nausea isn't bad now, only very mild and seems to come in waves so I'm hoping it stays that way and this is the worst of it.

Did you manage to eat anything ?
I had my usual scrambled eggs on toast and managed it just fine 😆

I had 2 slices of wholemeal toast at 10am. I don't feel any different yet. Maybe felt a little bit cold this morning but that could just be the weather getting colder. I'll have to see what happens this evening. I'm an evening snacker.

meteow · 11/09/2024 12:06

@OvaHere me too! For all things sugar, not good.

Well I've just tried to eat some lunch as I felt hungry, and I've had a few bites and I can't eat anymore. Must be working !

Hey so I'm giggled at the thot of folk pooing themselves but in all honestly it come so quick, I literally thot I was just needing to pass wind but omg it's literally just there, sitting.
I need to take laxido because my pain killers make me really constipated so MJ on top of that I would be impacted so it's just what I need to put up with but jeezo a few times now I've had to bolt to toilet lol

BankHolidayReset · 11/09/2024 12:45

I've just taken delivery of mine today. Is there a better day to start and do you always take it at night? I haven't opened any of the packet yet so I don't know or if there's a leaflet or anything in there with these details on.

There is a leaflet with full detailed instructions and a separate patient information leaflet. There should also be a set of disposable needles as well as the pen itself.

It is up to you when you inject and when you start. People seem to choose different days and times for different reason to suit their own circumstances.

I do mine on a Friday morning, to get the most effect for the weekend and any side effects hopefully under control by the Monday. I don't work in an office and can manage my own time, so I'm pretty flexible. I'd just choose a day that you know you can regularly find the time to do the injection, and that suits your schedule.

😆 if you don't laugh... !!

Out of interest/curiosity what painkillers are you on ? I'm on a high dose of codeine for my disc issues and am currently working with the doctors to taper down as I want off them after years of being on them. I'm also constipated anyways and worrying this will make it worse. I was going to take my lactulose to hopefully help keep things moving

As a pp said, it's more to just suit you ! It doesn't say anything in mine about when

Theredjellybean · 11/09/2024 19:01

So full first day...I felt nauseous when I woke up and for most of the day until about 2 pm.
Just not had any hunger pangs
I usually don't until about 11 am...but it's no 7 pm and I'm now feeling a bit hungry.
I've had two coffees and three bites of an apple.
Have a headache but that's probably due to no fluids ..so I'm in a hotel and think I'll just go and get some sushi and have a big bottle of water
I'm delighted so far

Moier · 11/09/2024 19:13
