Please note: Mounjaro can only be taken if your BMI is above 30.

Pointers for newbies:

1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1! The instructions say prime each time you take a dose, but actually Eli Lilly have confirmed you only need to prime for the first ever use of a pen. (The video posted says every use, but this isn't true!)

2 - When injecting, hold down the button until the number goes back to 0. Once at 0, keep holding down the button and count to 5 with the needle still in so no medication is lost!

3 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system. Also below you can plot the effect of your doses.
glp1plotter.com/

4 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

5 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

6 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

7 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :

www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/15481/pil#about-medicine

8 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

9 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100?gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH51rLZBVFQxuvS7mDJooegtK8BMiyT0PwREMRHhH_1atfQIo8TEbsmkaAkA0EALw_wcB

Also there is a 5th dose in each pen. To extract it you can either try a hard twist or use an insulin needle.
medbasic.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-30g-1ml-syringes-needles

10 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day.

11 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

12 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

13 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

14 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
furthet reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - Abdominal side-effects are much easier to control with smaller meals. For example, having 4 small meals in the day vs 2 big meals can have an improvement in nausea and burps.

17 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

18 - Some of the places you can order from are:

MedExpress 2.5mg and 5mg. £149.99. 7.5mg £169. Use code STARTNOW. Ask for other codes if that doesn't work.
The Family Chemist 2.5mg and 5mg -£149. 7.5mg £169.
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 5mg
Bolt pharmacy 2.5mg £125, 5mg £179. 7.5mg £189
Asda 2.5mg and 5mg £184. 7.5mg £189
Boots £219 +
Chemist4U £179 +
Superdrugs

19 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

I am not loosing anymore! I am about to start my second week on 7.5mg.My appetite is still being suppressed. Can anyone tell me why I have stopped loosing weight

Please anyone have a discount code for Medexpress

No idea if they work but my voucher browser plug-in is currently suggesting COUPERT, MAIL-BLOOM, and TREAT25 - all new since I last ordered. COUPERT is ‘a discount’ and MAIL-BLOOM seems to be just 5% but it’s not clear. The last one is 25%.

Lots of us have plateaued a bit - how long since you saw weight loss? I think some have gone 2-3 weeks before having a bit of a whoosh. Are you drinking lots of water to reduce water retention? Are you constipated (quite a few of us struggle with this!)? Changing the site you inject it can help to jumpstart loss too.

Consult-bloom still seems to work.

Consult-bloom is 15% btw.

I’ve just tried all of these as a repeat customer ordering 7.5mg

COUPERT says it’s for new customers only
MAIL-BLOOM is £5 off
TREAT-25 says it’s expired

CONSULT-BLOOM still working for 15% off

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 20/05/2024 16:21

Yes I've plateaued on 7.5 for a few weeks now (lost loads when ill but all came back again so was just water weight)
Hey ho, I'll just keep plodding on for a bit, see if I can try a few new things.
So many of you have lost a ton of weight. I reckon the first time using might be a 'golden shot' and get the best results.

GingerLemonTea · 20/05/2024 16:25

I’m with Boots. Ordered my 2nd pen the day before I needed it. Decided to stick with 2.5. First order was available in 24 hours. 2nd order has taken from ordering on 13th until today (20th) to arrive. So a lesson for me to order in advance. No real detriment as I still had suppression/ some willpower plus used my bonus dose. Will deffo be ordering in advance tho if keeping going after this 2nd pen.

Mycuprunnethempty · 20/05/2024 16:47

Took my 3rd dose of 5mg last night and while no vomiting still feeling really nauseous. Going on holidays on Wednesday so going to delay my 4th dose until I get back as just want a few days where I don't feel sick. Hoping not to put too much weight back on. I've got 7 stone to lose so thought weight would come off quickly but only 8lbs since I started 6 weeks ago. Not complaining as better than putting 8lbs on. Has anyone gone from 5mg to 7.5 and lost the side effects? Not sure if it's wishful thinking but haven't felt well at all on 5mg

BlackFriYay · 20/05/2024 17:01

I can confirm that CONSULT-BLOOM still works. I placed an order this afternoon and it has been dispatched already.

A big well done for the recent losses, very inspiring 🙂

pixieslove · 20/05/2024 18:23

hi all new here and super thick with technology!
ive been following the thread and really wanted to say hello, I took my first dose of 2.5 Mounjaro on friday and don't think I'm tolerating it well.
I have had zero appetite and feel sick as a pig, I can't face food at all which will hinder me ive had 2 small bowls of shreddies and 2 slimfast shakes since Friday morning as I feel so sick.
im not sure if everyone gets this or if its normal, not worried but feel like I need a boot up the backside and give my head a wobble and maybe force eating?

im super excited to start my journey with you all

im drinking as much as I can and got rid of headache Saturday with a forced lucozade.

also anyone thinking of ordering try
Oxford online pharmacy (I used them and they're fast and helpful)
try the first order code EM10PJNS for 10% off which I missed out on but a code in with my order for 15% off next order so I paid £140 delivered next day

hope this helps people save the pennies and I wish you all the luck on your journey xx

Kyogo67 · 20/05/2024 18:25

My DD had this when she injected into here stomach the first 2 weeks.

Switched to thigh and no side effects or sickness. Also make sure you are eating enough too.

pixieslove · 20/05/2024 18:29

ok I just read there's a fifth dose in the pens now me being my stupid self thought I hadn't turned the pen the right amount and now am sure I gave myself 2 doses thinking I had done it wrong as I had no clue of the 5th dose.
I want to cry how can I be so stupid
gonna sit in corner and rock whilst sobbing

I think I accidentally double dosed myself
I also injected stomach so thank you so much I will do next on thigh xx

KeepingUndercover · 20/05/2024 18:37

@pixieslove back on the first thread someone double dosed themselves I'm sure. They were fine. You might feel a bit shit for a few days. It is confusing on the first dose because the pen has lines but only for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th dose. The 1st dose just takes you to half way to the first line.

thank you so so much im now in full panic mode after realising this double dose mistake
how can I be so stupid!
my husband just pointed out there is only 4 doses so it may not administer the last weekly dose as should have been 4 doses but I used 2 on first injection so will I need to call pharmacy and fess up to being thick and get the 5mg earlier?

pixieslove · 20/05/2024 18:47

this is the pen after using it on Friday can anyone tell if I used 1 or 2 doses? I apologise for my thickness but its was so blooming confusing! xx

oh god what should I do?

NotADailyMailJournalist · 20/05/2024 18:50

Some of you might remember I got dispensed 5mg when it should have been 7.5mg. I've name changed since then.

They replaced the pen AND are giving me my next prescription for free.

So definitely worth making a fuss.

BTW OP you might want to reword your intro? It says MJ can only be taken by people with a BMI over 30. I think you mean you can only START MJ when it's over that. Boots etc will continue to prescribe once you are under that. My BMI is actually only 26 now.

NCfor24 · 20/05/2024 18:54

pixieslove · 20/05/2024 18:49

I think you just have to ride it out re symptoms/side effects and I'd probably wait until you get some hunger back and can eat before taking your next dose. So that might be a week, it might be longer...
I'm not really sure what else you can do other than call your prescriber for advice.

I agree it looks like 2+ doses have gone.

yes I just called my local pharmacy as they're open and he had a little giggle then said im not the first and won't be the last
I think waiting an extra week for the second dose will be for best now, can't believe how thick ive been.

thank you all for answering me I have been having a panic attack since itv was pointed out
will call prescriber in the morning.
won't do this again!

thank you all xx

Do you know at what point boots will stop prescribing out of interest?

MrsBurtMacklin · 20/05/2024 19:39

@pixieslove Agree with the others. You might feel pretty ill over the next few days! Plenty of water and don't eat anything spicy/fatty/overly processed. Bless ya! Did you twist the pen three times from 0 to 1?

There are videos on youtube on how to take it. Next time watch some of them and go slowly and copy what they do. Hope you're not too sick.

Thank you, I think I will next time but I think I’m gonna leave the next dose as suggested.

honestly I think I was just so excited to have it arrive and being a first timer to it I assumed it had 4 doses in there so I twisted it til it went to 1 but then when I saw there was still 4 doses I assumed I hadn’t pressed it down to administer the dose and waited a couple hours but felt nothing which I thought I would start to feel a bit sickly maybe, and seeing there was still 4 doses I did it again and saw it go down.

When I saw at the start of the thread earlier there’s 5 doses I nearly cried as I knew then I’d done it wrong and double dosed.

I’ve just been feeling really sick and not even slightly hungry, the thought of food turns my stomach.
the pharmacist put my mind at ease as well as you all, thank you so much for any guidance, I promise going forward I won’t be so stupid!

I will call prescriber tomorrow and figure out what I should do as I will be a dose short but I don’t want to rush into higher doses as I don’t want to continue feeling sick (hopefully it’s down to my stupidness double dosing)

serves me right for jumping the gun!
I wish you all well on your own weight loss journeys and thank you to everyone who hasn’t judged me for being so thick with this, I truly didn’t realise.

thank you my lovely angels for all your help hopefully the next few months won’t be so terrible as long as I do the prescribed doses from now on.
I am hanging my head in pure shame
xx
