Trying to decide on the cuisine for 100 people!
Thanks!

As a vegetarian to see a while pig being roasted makes me feel really sick!

Totally agree.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 03/07/2026 18:41

Hog roast.

I make paella regularly at home, so I'd prefer something I don't/can't do.

Same here. I love paella and it's so versitile.

Snufkin88 · 03/07/2026 18:43

I’m a meat eater but I couldn’t eat hog roast I find the idea disgusting . I’d be going for the veggie option if there was one

Skybluepinky · 03/07/2026 18:43

What other options as paella has far too many things for people not to like rice is a major one?

Griselinia · 03/07/2026 18:44

If I were at your wedding I'd try to avoid the paella as I just couldn't trust it wasn't a perfect breeding ground for all the bacteria.

VoltaireMittyDream · 03/07/2026 18:44

The sight of an entire pig’s head sends my mind immediately to David Cameron and/or Lord of the Flies. So I’d find that a bit unromantic at a wedding. 🤣

dontmalbeconme · 03/07/2026 18:44

Hog roasts are overdone. Go for a paella (vegan & meat / seafood versions).

Please provide seating, proper plates and cutlery. No one wants to stand around in posh frocks eating dinner from a paper plate whilst juggling a glass of wine.

People 'don't like rice'? Really?

Rice, chicken, vegetables, not strongly flavoured or spiced. Paella is one of the most inoffensive meals there is.

lottiegarbanzo · 03/07/2026 18:46

Well am veggie so…

Advocodo · 03/07/2026 18:47

I would be happy with either.

Rice, really? I could understand if you said seafood (solved by the vegan version), but I've never heard of anyone not liking rice! It's just a bland carrier to pick up flavours.

lottiegarbanzo · 03/07/2026 18:48

And any caterer focusing on hog roast will have crap, third-class veggie options.

ThaneOfGlamis · 03/07/2026 18:50

While ai would prefer the taste of paella, hog roast has less ability to stain. I would be worried about the potential for paella spillage and then being obviously covered in food for the rest of the night.

emuloc · 03/07/2026 18:52

I would go for paella.

SilenceInside · 03/07/2026 18:57

As a vegetarian I would be disheartened at the thought of a hog roast and would not want to see it. The vegetarian option is also likely to be third rate if the caterers specialise in roasting meat.

I wouldn’t be thrilled about paella either. I would be suspicious of a vegetarian/vegan one not being properly vegetarian/vegan (animal stock??) and it’s not the most thrilling of things to eat. But of the two that would have to be my choice.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 03/07/2026 18:58

Hog roast is safer

Lottie6712 · 03/07/2026 19:09

Love paella, but hog roast for a wedding I'd say.

Gemilo · 03/07/2026 19:14

Paella not good if you are allergic to seafood

daughterfromhell · 03/07/2026 19:17

I love meat but hate hog roast and would be disappointed it was the only option.

Would you do chicken, chorizo and seafood in the non-veggie paella. Obviously that’ll need allergy considerations.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 03/07/2026 19:20

Neither. But rotisserie chicken and I’d be there 😝

IdentifyingAsAWoollyMammoth · 03/07/2026 19:34

Another vote for "neither"

Caaarrrl · 03/07/2026 19:39

Hog roast with plenty of salad but without any bread as I'm diabetic so all that rice would be an issue.
Edit: typo

hexsnidgett · 03/07/2026 19:41

Oh no. Neither sound good to me.
