Wedding dress honest thoughts

Hi I need some honest opinions about this dress I chose. I went wedding dress shopping for the first time on the weekend and I only tried on 6-7 dresses. I think I got swept up in the moment and said yes to the dress too quickly. I wasn't expecting to buy my dress that day. Since coming home I'm unsure if I made the right decision what are your honest thoughts about this dress?

A little extra advice please - for the veil would you have a lace trim at the back (the skirt is sparkly tulle all over) or would you have a plain/pearl veil?
Thank you! Any opinions and thoughts would be so helpful 🩷

It's beautiful 😍

MyrtleStrumpet · 04/11/2024 21:17

Seriously that is a beautiful dress and you look amazing in it.😍

hadenoughofplayinggames · 04/11/2024 21:20

Get the sleeves altered. Otherwise, keep as is - you look amazing!!

mitogoshigg · 04/11/2024 21:20

Very similar to my dress (recent) though I didn't have a veil

Happyhappyday · 04/11/2024 21:21

It is beautiful and looks lovely for the most part, the top with the droopy sleeves looks like it’s falling down. Not sure if that will improve when it’s tailored though? I am not a fan of strapless dresses though so that is a big bias!

SlebBB · 04/11/2024 21:30

It’s very popular in the industry, I haven’t seen the sleeves look right yet, if you’re not feeling it keep looking.

Sassybooklover · 04/11/2024 21:31

Dress is stunning ❤️ Go for a plain veil.

HippyKayYay · 04/11/2024 21:38

It's a nice dress, but I'd have the straps adjusted so they sit on your shoulders (or a halter as PP suggested) as they currently look like they've slipped down

Goinggreymammy · 04/11/2024 21:46

Beautiful dress. Looks amazing on you (if that's you in the photos). Plain veil or no veil.
Don't feel you have to spend ages looking for a dress. I bought mine on my own on a Sat morning when I was in a rush to meet friends for a run after. My bridesmaid convinced me I couldn't have found the best dress so quickly and i started to panic, I wasted time and energy going to other shops with her, only to stick with the original dress in the end. Go with your gut. It's gorgeous.

It's a pretty dress, but personally I think you could do much better for your figure.

A personal opinion but I think the bodice is too short and so it makes the overall look quite frumpy. It also looks like the skirt has too much material for you.

Plenty will disagree, but I also think if it's the dress for you, you know and you don't need to canvass opinion or be swayed by what other people say. What you want is a wedding gown that fills you with joy and excitement and on the day, you'll be beside yourself to put it on and enjoy the day together.

All that said, whichever you choose OP, am sure you'll be a beautiful and radiant bride.

Yes, that's what it is! The bodice is short and it's giving you a bigger waist than I suspect you naturally have.

Apolloneuro · 04/11/2024 21:55

Because you ask, I think you can do better. Those sleeves look like they’ve fallen down, in my opinion.

swiftieswoop · 04/11/2024 21:57

I agree with the comments about the short torso and droopy arms.

Also the bottom looks like someone taking the net curtains down for cleaning.

That's just really fucking rude 🙄

Pyjamatimenow · 04/11/2024 22:12

I like it. I might be inclined to ask them to
make the neckline more sweetheart

Notsureaboutusername · 04/11/2024 22:18

There is enough loveliness going on in your dress, don’t have a veil & cover up a lovely dress

SquishyGloopyBum · 04/11/2024 22:31

I don't love it on you. You have a good figure but I agree with others that said the bodice is short.

But loads on here do love it.

What made you post op? Did you feel pressured into buying?

Most importantly- do you love it? That's all that really counts.

teatimelover · 04/11/2024 22:42

I disagree about the plain veil, i think the current veil uplifts the plain tulle dress bit.

teatimelover · 04/11/2024 22:44

And as for some of the comments, it's the angle of the picture that makes some of the posters think you have a short torso etc. Overall, you have a lovely figure that will look amazing in any dress.

MissMoan · 04/11/2024 22:48

It is beautiful and looks truly lovely on you

newusern9999 · 04/11/2024 22:55

The sleeves are not my style either.
My wedding dress was a separate bodice and skirt and the top never quite fitted right. Every time I see the photos I can still see that it wasn’t quite right. So I would definitely recommend that if you’re not sure keep looking.

80smonster · 04/11/2024 22:57

Gorgeous, another vote for plain veil.

Buttermill · 04/11/2024 23:23

Plain veil stunning dress but personally not too keen on the straps they sort of give the impression they fallen down or are too big. I'm not sure if the plan is to have them adjusted or raised but again thats just my personal preference

Raggeo · 04/11/2024 23:28

The dress is gorgeous. I think if you tried it on and loved it then it's perfect for you. I also bought my wedding dress on the first dya I went looking, in the first shop I went to. I think society/wider friendship group had conditioned me into thinking that it had to be a long process, over many weeks, trying on hundreds of dresses to find the one. I don't believe that to be true.

Raggeo · 04/11/2024 23:28

Oh and I vote for a plain veil too.
