I don't like it. Sorry.

It looks a bit stiff and like it has an unnatural shape.

It may look better in the flesh. One (not great) photo doesn't help really.

But if you love it, it shouldn't matter I think.

Peedoff24 · 07/04/2024 22:03

Like every other wedding dress over the past ten years or so.

Ellysa · 07/04/2024 22:03

I couldn’t do strapless, I like to wave my arms around when I dance.

My priority for my wedding dress was that I could eat lots, and be comfortable dancing. My dressmaker nearly cried when I made her chop off the train but I was so happy I did. It’s a party not a catwalk.

Tatas · 07/04/2024 22:03

I think that looks lovely, simple and elegant! The flow of the bottom piece is lovely, the waist looks really flattering too. Would look fab with a cathedral length veil!

tillyandmilly · 07/04/2024 22:05

Needs some sleeves!

Santasjingleballs · 07/04/2024 22:05

Chavvy

AnOpinionInTheHand · 07/04/2024 22:05

Don’t tell the bride, 2012 edition. Very dated I’m afraid

Santasjingleballs · 07/04/2024 22:05

Chavvy

I doubt it as it looks classy

TheShellBeach · 07/04/2024 22:07

Just like all the other wedding dresses.

That strapless look is vile.

2chocolateoranges · 07/04/2024 22:08

Not a fan of the ruffles in the middle.

though wedding dress shopping for me was a nightmare as I couldn’t find one I liked that wasn’t too white, too pearly, too sparkly, too fussy, too ruffled.

Dewdilly · 07/04/2024 22:08

I’m not keen. I really don’t like strapless dresses at all

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/04/2024 22:09

It’s fine. A very popular shape, style. Not for me.

Cakemaker2222 · 07/04/2024 22:10

Nice but a bit dated

Uncooperativefingers · 07/04/2024 22:10

It looks a little "noughties" to me: the combination of the shape, strapless and skirt ruffles. But I can imagine it being quite flattering on, particularly if the top is corseted.

Practicalities-wise, my concern would be the weight of the dress pulling it down over the course of the day. Even if super well altered, as it slips, you have the horrible yanking up thing to do and you get things like back fat over the top of the dress, even when you're pretty thin

IggyAce · 07/04/2024 22:10

I agree with a previous poster it’s dated and was popular at least 10-15 years ago.

Jokl · 07/04/2024 22:11

It’s very 2008

DrJoanAllenby · 07/04/2024 22:12

It looks cheap and tacky and is exposing way too much skin.

Would look better with a bolero.

marrybarry · 07/04/2024 22:12

What is on Trend for wedding dresses?

And by the way I think the dress is pretty and you should wear what you love.

This made me laugh out loud!! I got married in 2012, I was obsessed with Don't tell the bride and the dress is very similar to mine. I feel sad now as if I was getting married now these type of dresses would be my choice but like you say they are very dated

DianaTaverner · 07/04/2024 22:22

Dated. And it would be difficult to relax/let your hair down in it.

BirthdayRainbow · 07/04/2024 22:24

It looks like the top of a cup cake. Sorry.

NewName24 · 07/04/2024 22:25

Tell us more OP.

Are you thinking of having it for your wedding ?
Do you want to tell us a bit about you - height, shape, age, colouring maybe?
Also about what sort of day you are having? The ceremony, the venue, the size, the formality or otherwise ?

As what looks good for those getting married in a Cathedral isn't necessarily going to suit someone getting married in a field.

mitogoshi · 07/04/2024 22:28

Having just ordered mine, there were several of this style. Personally I prefer a softer look. I also couldn't buy without a train, so I'm cutting it off, mine has optional straps

HesterPrincess · 07/04/2024 22:34

It is dated, but you could be going for the whole retro look?

SleepPrettyDarling · 07/04/2024 22:34

This is why I watch old Say Yes to the Dress reels! Everybody likes different things and the personality, colouring, shape and height of the person are what make a dress suit (or not!) If you love it, and it looks good on you, go for it ❤️
