Wedding dresses (I don’t like any)

I have been to 3 different bridal shops now and tried on about 10-15 dresses. I know the style that i want (fishtail not princess) as they suit my frame the most. The problem is, although a lot of the dresses were ‘nice’ non of them blew me away or stood out enough for me to buy them. When i think of the crazy costs of wedding dresses i don’t feel i can justify spending that kind of money on something that is just okay.

Is the bridal feeling a myth, am i really fussy 😂
Or have i just not found my dress?

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone :)
Just a quick update- i have been to another store and tried on some nice dresses but nothing anywhere near special enough for me to spend thousands on.

Next stop- dress maker!

I’m so excited to marry my fiancé i will wear a bin bag if i have to... but not until I’ve exhausted all other options 😂

I think you have the style you want in your heart, but no designer has made the wedding dress you want. Maybe you can customize a wedding dress

That’s the best decision! Seeing my dress come together was amazing. Having a dress made especially for you is wonderful. Hope you find the right dr

*dressmaker sorry! Posted too soon.

I had a dressmaker. I took a top I already had - that was my neckline. I took a photo of my mother’s dress - that became my sleeve. I took a photo of a distant royalty bride - that became my waistline.

Dressmaker sent me away to buy my shoes, bra and fabric. DM and I spent a day going to 8 fabric shops where we found just one fabric that would work, we discussed it with the dressmaker who told us how much we needed and DM drove the three hours each way a couple of days later to buy what was needed.

It was totally out of fashion so would never be found in a bridal shop, looked fab and was the most comfortable outfit I have ever worn. And brand new DH thought I looked gorgeous.

Do you know anyone who can sew?

Have a look at patterns of things you like, not just wedding dresses but prom dresses and simple dresses.

Then, don't go straight to the making the wedding dress but make a mock up in cheap material just to see how it looks on you.

Sorry just seen your update, have fun with getting your exact dress.

Have you seen the last episode of the 'Vicar of Dibley'? I know you are a totally different size and shape but the dress in that is plain with a sort of overcoat in floaty material.

Maybe a simple dress with a lace jacket over would work.

I am happy (and relieved) to say that i found a dress!! It’s a mermaid style with a LOT more detail than i thought i wanted and a long train.

I listened to my gut and how i felt in the dress, rather than having a tick list in my mind as i was trying dresses on. It just felt really special and i knew after trying it for the second time that it was the one. That was 3 weeks ago and haven’t had a single doubt about it since I ordered it Smile

Thanks for all your messages and suggestions everyone. I can’t wait to wear it now xxx
