Who actually thinks weddings are still going to go ahead this summer? Do you think their will be restrictions? I'm so undecided in what to do

@AnxiousElephant77 our venue are making a decision on postponing 2 months before each wedding. We can change the date before then but would need to pay to do this.

Oh interesting, thank you. We're not until 27th December so I'm going to have to find a way to be chill Grin

@Boredsheep

I know right?! What constitutes ‘small’?!

Myself and my partner are ‘over it’ now. Were supposed to be married on 24th April, now just want to do it with two witnesses ASAP. We’ll plan a party much later - I don’t want to plan anything for late this year or next year, still feels too uncertain!

Boredsheep · 12/05/2020 16:49

Does anyone know what other countries are doing in regards to weddings?

JorisBonson · 12/05/2020 16:50

We postponed our June wedding to the end of October, a decision I think I will come to regret.

Boredsheep · 12/05/2020 16:54

@JorisBonson I think any date postponed to is a risk unfortunately.

JorisBonson · 12/05/2020 16:55

Agreed @boredsheep. Our ceremony is small (19 guests) with a mean after and then a party for 100. If we can do the first 2 I'll be happy.

If not I'm waiting for Gretna to reopen then we're buggering off 😂

JorisBonson · 12/05/2020 16:56

Mean? A meal obviously.

Boredsheep · 12/05/2020 16:58

@JorisBonson I don’t think that is out of reach. Fingers crossed for you.

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/05/2020 16:58

I've got so much admiration for everyone on here just saying they will scale down. I'm not scaling down. I don't want to look back and regret not having the wedding we actually planned.

I feel a bit more hopeful today. I've been reading around, and maybe there's a bit of optimism to be had. I'd share my thoughts but I'm sure someone will come along and tell me I'm deluded so I'm not going to.

@Boredsheep - have you heard from your venue?

JorisBonson · 12/05/2020 16:58

You too @Boredsheep 🤞

Plancina · 12/05/2020 17:01

We are hoping to get married with 2 witnesses ASAP and then have a huge party later if/when things go back to normal.

Boredsheep · 12/05/2020 18:00

@AnxiousElephant77 yes they won’t postpone without cost until 2 months before so just a waiting game now.

We don’t want to scale down either. Ditto having guests sit apart and worry about social distancing.

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/05/2020 18:17

@Boredsheep All we can do is try and be positive. I'm saying that, I've engaged full crank mode Wink

AnxiousElephant77 · 14/05/2020 14:17

Our venue have just agreed to place the same date next year on hold for me. Although no one knows what's going to happen, I do feel happier that there's a plan b at least. Even if we end up needing a plan c!
