Is anyone still holding onto their wedding this year?

Who actually thinks weddings are still going to go ahead this summer? Do you think their will be restrictions? I'm so undecided in what to do

If all goes to plan then hospitality could start to re-open in July 🤞🏻 A bit of hope?

AnxiousElephant77 · 10/05/2020 21:34

I have no idea what to think any more.

lovinglavidaloca · 10/05/2020 21:42

Me neither and I don’t want to start pestering the venue when they will have May, June and July brides to deal with first.

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 10/05/2020 21:48

Mine in meant to be on December 19th. Just 22 guests and I’m hopeful but uncertain if it will go ahead.

GiantKitten · 10/05/2020 21:53

DD2’s was late June. Now rescheduled for the same weekend next year.

Not a big do, luckily - register office ceremony, big combined family lunch out, then gathering at her in-laws’ house in the late afternoon/evening.

Our family will be staying in a big country house let, which we’ve been able to defer at the same cost.

Just hoping everything will actually be normal (ish) again by next summer...

GiantKitten · 10/05/2020 21:55

@Bridecilla
The other part of me says it's something nice to look forward to. It's difficult.

That’s exactly how we’re feeling too Confused

mouldygrapes · 10/05/2020 22:00

Meant to be mid Sept. Haven’t made any decisions yet - our venue has availability for early Dec but who even knows if that will be OK.

If (when?) it inevitably gets cancelled I think we’ll just try for a small registry office wedding when we can, and then a party at a later date.

Bumble84 · 10/05/2020 22:02

We were due to get married in April. Obviously didn’t go ahead and we haven’t rescheduled anything. We just want to get married when it’s safe to do so. It’s sad that we won’t have the photos and memories to look back on but we felt we couldn’t put ourselves through the stress of rescheduling and then wondering what if?? As long as we get married legally that’s all we are now bothered about. Absolutely gutted we missed out on a honeymoon holiday though!!

Iwantacookie · 10/05/2020 22:09

Havent booked yet but me and dp are hoping to get a statutory ceremony in at some point this year.

whitershadeofpale · 11/05/2020 16:38

How’s everyone feeling after today’s announcements? Not much clarity but he said they’ll be measures to implement small ceremonies form 1st June, which has given me hope we’ll be able to het married this year, even if we won’t be able to have quite the wedding we’d wanted.

AnxiousElephant77 · 11/05/2020 16:41

I'm almost certainly not going to be able to have a wedding for 100 people in December. I just wish my venue would open so I could reschedule now Confused

Elizadoeslittle19 · 11/05/2020 19:35

After the updates today I think people will be able to legally get married this year, whether that is the wedding people want is a different story. Small weddings, I'd say no more than essential people in attendance and probably no more than 10 people in total and I would suspect from no earlier than July, probably later. Just my opinion. And obviously this is all subject to change depending on what happens in the next few weeks.

lovinglavidaloca · 11/05/2020 19:40

Who to cull from my list if we’re only allowed 10? (Looking at your MIL/FIL Grin)

Boredsheep · 11/05/2020 20:09

When did he address weddings?

Sapphire387 · 12/05/2020 12:24

@Boredsheep It’s in that document they produced shortly afterwards. They are looking at facilitating small weddings from around June.

Picklesprout · 12/05/2020 12:45

Just moved mine from august to may

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/05/2020 13:12

I've emailed the venue again! I'm getting really tense about not being able to secure a provisional different date!

Boredsheep · 12/05/2020 14:41

@Sapphire387 I can’t see about weddings in there - do you know what page it is on please?

@AnxiousElephant77 what is your venue saying? Ours will not book in a provisional date until 8 weeks before.

Sapphire387 · 12/05/2020 14:52

It’s on page 31 as labelled at top of each page (when I read it on my phone, my phone reckons it’s page 35, very odd).

About halfway down.

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/05/2020 15:18

The events staff are all furloughed. Emails are being responded to by the reception team, they've said that they are only offering new dates to events currently affected.

Picklesprout · 12/05/2020 15:25

@AnxiousElephant77

I've accidentally name changed half way through this thread but my heart really goes out to you!

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/05/2020 15:28

Just going to keep crossing everything. I suppose at least no events are being booked Hmm

CherryPavlova · 12/05/2020 15:34

Our daughter deferred hers from July until next May. Getting the date was a bit challenging as many suppliers were already committed on most dates and trying to get a date all the ones booked could manage wasn’t easy.

AnxiousElephant77 · 12/05/2020 15:49

I'm not worried about anything else except my venue. I've only paid deposits to my suppliers, and I've got all my dresses. My florist is a family friend so that's fine. My hair and make up artists and photographer I'm sure I could replace if needed.

Boredsheep · 12/05/2020 15:59

@Sapphire387 thank you - found it. Not much clarification there Grin
