Please help me pick which dress

I think that one of these may be the one but cant decide.
Number one doesn't fit and has some loose cups added in the wrong place it is covered in little clear sequins that are quite sparkly which the picture doesn't show.
Number two is a good fit and you can see all the details.
By the way I am over 55 so trying to dress appropriately:)
Thanks for any advice

Number two all the way! I love the material of it!

Atalune · 16/10/2019 08:35

I like drsss one and would add some little cap sleeves in the same material as the skirt.

I like the belt. I think it flatters you.

I would also ask if pockets could be added to the dress. Full skit with pockets are so cool!

Cantdecidewhich · 16/10/2019 08:42

Atalune dress one has pockets already, I love them!

Dress 1 😍

Ohyesiam · 16/10/2019 09:04

Dress 2 suits your figure better, but I’d want a shrug as I’m not sure strapless works.

Hope you have a beautiful day

Shockers · 16/10/2019 09:12

Two- I love the way it falls- the material is lovely. I also disagree that number one flatters your figure more- you look fabulous in number two!

ilovetofu · 16/10/2019 09:38

Two

Ravenrob · 16/10/2019 09:42

Two is lovely. You look great!

AllTheNameAreTakenEvenThisOne · 16/10/2019 09:47

One but needs to be properly fitted.

I think two was always going to win as it fits you better, so it's kinda an unfair comparison as one might well get more votes if people were seeing it once adjusted.

How do you feel about them? Do you love both / either of them? Or do you need to try more dresses?

AllTheNameAreTakenEvenThisOne · 16/10/2019 09:47

You look great in both btw. Would never have guessed you're in your 50s.

DoubleTweenQueen · 16/10/2019 09:58

Were you drawn to the strapless/bodice dresses because that’s what they had most of in the shop? What I would do, if I was with you - after insisting you have a free glass of fizz, natch - is get you to try on as many different shapes as possible to find the sort of shape that would flatter you the most - then it’s about the details, fabric etc.
I imagine you in a sophisticated low-ish/deep V neckline with capped sleeves, with a subtle flare to the skirt - I think when altered to fit, it would make you look taller, show off your figure, and look more grown-up Queen, than Princessy :D

DoubleTweenQueen · 16/10/2019 10:09

I also think the sweetheart neckline, where you have wider straps just off the shoulder is movie-star drop-dead-gorgeous for your great skin and showing off your decollate :D

I mean decollete!

Cantdecidewhich · 16/10/2019 10:18

Thanks again for all the help and lovely compliments, it is making me feel a lot more confident about wearing a 'proper' wedding dress than I was at first!

DoubleTweenQueen I really like that off the shoulder strap it looks very elegant.

I have tried lots of styles as I went into one shop where the owner insisted that I needed too and to be honest the full skirt was the only one I felt comfortable in.

Whatever you decide on, you will look lovely. Have a wonderful extra-special day, and come back with a photo? X

trulyconfuseddotcom · 16/10/2019 10:54

Hello - just wanted to say don't be put off by anyone telling you that any dress you love is too OTT for your age, wear whatever you want too and feel happy in! I say this as a woman who got married at 47 in a huge dress and I felt amazing and beautiful, I thought I would go for something more fitted but fell in love with something completely different and felt fabulous on my big day. Have fun and enjoy it!

yomommasmomma · 16/10/2019 11:06

Our do these it is 100% number 2, the first one doesn't fit and second looks good. I would maybe think about trying something a bit more fitted, but you look beautiful anyway. Have a lovely day.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 16/10/2019 11:16

I think dress 2 swamps you. It looks like the dress is wearing you rather than being comfortable and effortless. You’re very petite and I totally get that the fuller skirt is your preference, but you don’t want to be overwhelmed by it.

Does this shape appeal at all?

I think the pleated bodice is elegant and the straps give it more balance.

Cantdecidewhich · 16/10/2019 11:27

DoubleTweenQueen thank you I will definitely come back with a photo x

Thank you all again! you are all so helpful and lovely

Trulyconfused I am glad you had an amazing day and found a dress that made you feel beautiful, I am beginning to not worry so much about being an older bride

Enrique that is very beautiful but a bit plain for me, I went to Wed2be recently but I didn't see that one

Number two. They both will look lovely once fitted properly but I prefer the skirt one two and the over all look of it.

Brideof2020 · 16/10/2019 11:38

How about either of these or something similar?

Two by a country mile

AllTheNameAreTakenEvenThisOne · 16/10/2019 13:46

Those ones with off the shoulder straps are gorgeous!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 16/10/2019 13:52

I totally agree you should try, try and try again until you just get the feeling and don't want to look at anything else. My most successful clothes buys have usually been things that I wasn't so keen on from the hanger, but which really suited me on. It's amazing sometimes how wrong you can be.

This site has some lovely designs and a few of the gowns are on video so you can see how they move.

Like the one above, I think this shape is lovely and it has pockets too Smile but is probably still a bit plain for you. I tend to go for the less is more fabrics, so am a bit out of step with you.

I don't work in the industry btw and don't have any links with this site, just thought they had some really beautiful styles.
