Please help me pick which dress

I think that one of these may be the one but cant decide.
Number one doesn't fit and has some loose cups added in the wrong place it is covered in little clear sequins that are quite sparkly which the picture doesn't show.
Number two is a good fit and you can see all the details.
By the way I am over 55 so trying to dress appropriately:)
Thanks for any advice

1 is more vampy and I think actually flatters your (amazing) figure more. 2 seems a bit more demure maybe? I think you look good in both actually
I like both. And your age shouldn't and doesn't come into it at all!

Cantdecidewhich · 14/10/2019 11:50

Thanks for all the replies, I think number one can come up quite a bit so maybe would look more in proportion. I tried dresses with sleeves and straps but all the shop ladies said strapless looks better.

I have found the stock photo to show how it sits when fitted

Dress 2.

Dress 1 is sitting in the right position, it’s just got a long bodice. The belt is designed to sit 2” below the actual waist. Personally, I’m not a fan of drop waists as I’ve got short legs!

If you can find a good tailor/dressmaker I’d ask them to take the skirt off, take 2” off the bodice length, reattach the skirt and then take it up.

FenellaMaxwell · 14/10/2019 14:19

2 is nicer but I think something with a sleeve might be better?

Spied · 14/10/2019 14:21

2

2

reservoircats · 14/10/2019 14:24

The second one is lovely OP

C0untDucku1a · 14/10/2019 14:24

Two

PragmaticWench · 14/10/2019 14:25

The 2nd dress is much more flattering around your waist and the material of the skirt is softer, really lovely on you.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 14/10/2019 14:26

Both make you look rather thick of waist, but the first makes you look far bigger than you are.

I'd be trying on some other styles.

DoubleTweenQueen · 14/10/2019 15:05

Well, I am also 50+, and if it were me, I would go for dress two as the ‘v’drop on the bodice over the tummy seems to make you look more elongated/slimmer than the ‘belted’ dress one. Also, the diaphanous floaty material of the skirt is light and flattering. The make up of the skirt for dress one looks a bit more weighty? Might just be the photo.
Dress one, if it was made to fit properly and you had a pretty jacket to top off could be gorgeous though, as could dress two if it was fitted around the bust, also with a pretty shrug/jacket. Both are lovely, but number two has the edge for me, but might not for you. Wish I could be your personal shopper!! Congratulations!! X

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/10/2019 15:08

The second one, having a natural waist is much more flattering for you.

PocketMoneyMonster · 14/10/2019 15:09

#2. I don't like strapless though. I'd want straps.

Velveteenfruitbowl · 14/10/2019 15:12

I like the second much better but that may just be because it’s a bit better fitted.

MadisonAvenue · 14/10/2019 15:14

2

peachgreen · 14/10/2019 15:18

I think you could do better. I'm a bit biased though as I think hardly anyone can pull off strapless.

Nonnymum · 14/10/2019 15:22

I love number 2 and it really suits you.

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 14/10/2019 17:17

Both nice on you.
Personally I prefer number 2 as I think the diagonal folds on the bodice first one have been done to death,

sidsgranny · 14/10/2019 17:21

I would say if you aren't sure it's neither of them! You'll know instantly when you find it.

I like 2 though....

Cantdecidewhich · 14/10/2019 17:54

Thanks so much for all the help looks like number two is favourite but based on some comments I might look around a bit more.
Doubletweenqueen when are you free 😁

Definitely two over one. Although I’m another that would go for sleeves

LemonPrism · 14/10/2019 18:33

Two is way nicer and classy.

RainWoman19 · 14/10/2019 18:42

I think number 2. Your waist looks more defined and it just looks tidier than number 1. Both beautiful but number 2 cuts it for me x
