What was your first dance song?

Just curious. So many choices. What did you have?

Slightly reassured by other people who had DJ/first dance issues - DH and I picked a song that meant a huge amount to us for our first dance, and gave the exact title and artist (who was the original artist) to the DJ... who then played a far less well known cover version as he (later told me) "liked it better". I was raging!! (Various other transgressions by him, but that is the one that sticks in my mind - if nothing else because my wedding gift to DH was the original LP from the 80s on which the singer had written a personal message to us and signed it!). Still annoys me to this day!

I'm shocked at these entitled DJ stories!! If that had happened to us I think my DH would have floored him (or just not paid)!

My first dance was actually with my dad to a live band singing Fly Me to the Moon. We'd rehearsed the sort of dance people would do to that song when it was released and halfway through he 'handed' me over to my DH. It may sound cringy now but it felt very heartfelt to us at the time.

I know! I said we were young  but no regrets as I love the song and we are 20 years down the line!
