Wedding Dress Help

Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping you lovely people can give me some help.
I was wondering if there was a place near liverpool where you can Hire a Wedding dress?
Recently, we found out my 53 year old beautiful mum has an aggressive form of cancer and she has been given 3-6 months to live. She is rapidly getting sicker and is currently a day patient in Marie Curie for pain management. However, my wonderful boyfriend of 10 years has asked me to marry him so my mum can be there and see me in a wonderful dress and enjoy time with the whole family. We are hoping this gives her that extra bit of will power to keep fighting!! :)

So obviously weddings can cost a fortune but I dont have "fortune" money. Both me and the other work full time but we have nursery fees to pay a house, car and bills. We are also helping to pay for my mums cannibis oil (trying anything) and that is a fortune too. We need to do this as cheap as possible but for everything still needs to be beautiful (hope that makes sense). We gave our notice last week and have planned our wedding day for 20th October 2017.

I didnt realise how expensive wedding dresses are, I tried on an "off the peg dress" in the sale and it was £600, well i nearly popped right out the dress in sheer horror! LOL! I have searched for wedding dress hires but I cant find anywhere. I literally can afford a dress around £200, maybe a little more.

Your advice is needed desperately guys. Thanks in advance xxx

Have you had any luck, OP?

I hope you managed to find a dress for yourself. I'm a bit late but wanted to post and let you know that I bought a dress that was tailor made from China on a website called jjshouse, I was reluctant at first because I wasn't sure if I should purchase something that I couldn't see, and I had only 3months myself to plan and organise my wedding.
The dress was beautifully made, I paid at the time 220 including putting my own measurements and delivery cost, it came in time, and fit amazingly, and quality was high standard!! I never regretted my choice.
Just added the pic of the dress, can't find one of myself wearing it.

Yeah, ArDali1, you really got married in your wonderful jjshouse dress yet weirdly you can't find a single photo of yourself in it? Were you a terribly shy bride?

If you're going to spam on behalf of a notoriously unreliable company, then at least make your spam smell vaguely unfishy.

Tumblebee
I'm not spamming this thread, I don't have photos on my phone (new phone) my wedding was 2 years ago, and all my photos are on a hardrive that I cannot be bothered to look for and post, hence why I got the picture online just to show the OP.

ArDali1 · 29/08/2017 19:12

And also reassuring her that ordering online from China doesn't always go wrong.

Rubies12345 · 30/08/2017 13:38

I wouldn't go down the China route because they are made to order and they can take longer than they say.

@lillysmammy hi OP I can't believe how similar our stories are, my mum is the same age as your mum, has terminal cancer and I'm planning a wedding in three months, well it's more like two now! It's such a mix of emotions to be planning a wedding around this time isn't it. I'm looking online for a wedding dress and the best place I've found so far is ASOS. I don't think I'd even have time to go down the proper bridal shop route now and ASOS have some really nice dresses which are quite cheap too!

AndWhat · 31/08/2017 07:58

Try Bridesworld on County Road, they have a sale on at the minute and sell 'off the peg' dresses.
If not Debenhams in L1 have a lovely bridal section, and John Lewis have some lovely Temperley and Ralph Lauren dresses (they were in a sale 3 weeks ago -might still be)
Also if your mum is linked in with Marie Curie, ask if they know anywhere as they will have arranged 'quick' weddings in the past.

SilentBob · 31/08/2017 08:04

There are loads at £100 and under on FB marketplace in Liverpool, OP, if you're on there. So sorry to hear about your mom.

lokelani · 31/08/2017 08:08

I've heard amazing things about the oxfam shops (I think there is even a tv special coming up)

OP so sorry to hear about your mum, I have a very pretty sparkly headpiece you're welcome to have if you like, I'll take a photo of it later on, it's silver & it'd go with virtually any white dress :)

marmiteloversunite · 31/08/2017 08:17

There are charities that help with weddings for terminally ill patients. I know that you are not ill but they might be able to help you. Try www.weddingwishingwell.org.uk

sooperdooper · 31/08/2017 08:28

I've cropped down a pic, if you'd like it it's yours

I've lost my mum since our wedding, I think what you're planning to do is lovely and will give you all something positive to focus on

No worries if it doesn't suit what you're after but if you'd like it drop me a pm with your address
