Wedding Dress Help

Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping you lovely people can give me some help.
I was wondering if there was a place near liverpool where you can Hire a Wedding dress?
Recently, we found out my 53 year old beautiful mum has an aggressive form of cancer and she has been given 3-6 months to live. She is rapidly getting sicker and is currently a day patient in Marie Curie for pain management. However, my wonderful boyfriend of 10 years has asked me to marry him so my mum can be there and see me in a wonderful dress and enjoy time with the whole family. We are hoping this gives her that extra bit of will power to keep fighting!! :)

So obviously weddings can cost a fortune but I dont have "fortune" money. Both me and the other work full time but we have nursery fees to pay a house, car and bills. We are also helping to pay for my mums cannibis oil (trying anything) and that is a fortune too. We need to do this as cheap as possible but for everything still needs to be beautiful (hope that makes sense). We gave our notice last week and have planned our wedding day for 20th October 2017.

I didnt realise how expensive wedding dresses are, I tried on an "off the peg dress" in the sale and it was £600, well i nearly popped right out the dress in sheer horror! LOL! I have searched for wedding dress hires but I cant find anywhere. I literally can afford a dress around £200, maybe a little more.

Your advice is needed desperately guys. Thanks in advance xxx

I would look at high street options. Monsoon, Topshop etc all do wedding dresses for much less. Also eBay or preloved would have something on budget which you could also sell on after?

Eminybob · 12/08/2017 08:07

Try the high street, you can get wedding dresses from Monsoon, Debenhams etc for around your budget.
Or I bought mine on line for £160 from a company called Alie Street.

I can't answer you question about hiring though sorry.

Congratulations btw and Flowers for your mum

GemmaB78 · 12/08/2017 08:08

Monsoon do lovely dresses. I bought mine on eBay for £40. Actually, you could borrow it if you wanted to!

MummaGiles · 12/08/2017 08:09

i still have my wedding dress and I'd be happy to loan it to you for a good cause and I suspect many other people would feel the same way if you but the feelers out. Could you do that amongst friends/ on local Facebook pages? Take a look at Gift of a Wedding - they may be able to help.

Badgertastic · 12/08/2017 08:09

I'm sorry about your mum and the situation. Congratulations on the wedding. We did our wedding on a budget and I bought my wedding dress second hand from eBay. It was £150. I knew the style of dress and size so just kept looking on eBay to find one. It was almost £900 new so I was delighted with my bargain. I felt like a princess. There are so many people selling them in there. You can search by closest to you, the size etc. Good luck x

MummaGiles · 12/08/2017 08:09

What size are you OP? I'm near Manchester and mine is a size 16ish.

chocolatesa · 12/08/2017 08:13

Sorry to hear about your Mum Flowers

I would also recommend trying ebay. There are loads on there second hand for a reasonable price.

Beyond that I'd also try the high street shops which do wedding dresses, like monsoon.

GinIsIn · 12/08/2017 08:13

Asos have great wedding dresses for the same price as a normal dress

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 12/08/2017 08:15

What size are you and what sort of dress are you looking for?
I have a size 16 strapless quite big wedding dress in my wardrobe I bought 2nd hand and ended up wearing a different one. It would need cleaned but if it fitted you'd be welcome to have it.
It's sitting there because wedding dresses don't sell and I'm not sure what to do with it otherwise.

So many replies so quick!!! Thank you so much!
Well i did have a look on ebay, there are dresses from china and they are £120-£150 but i know the photos are not the actual dress but similar. Ive just had a look on monsoon, eventhough they are beautiful its not the type i want. I really do want to have a proper weddig dress and feel amazing for that day and i want my mum to see me in that style dress too.
Thanks so much for offering to loan your dresses, my heart sunk when I read it! That is unbelievably kind, but I couldnt possibly. Ide be absolutely heartbroken if it got damaged. Its so precious! I also have a 4 year old daughter, who for some reason has these magical hands that somehow are always dirty! LOL.
Im a size 10 with absolutely no boobs at all so ide need a type of dress that covers my chest if that makes sense.
I bought a dress for the races, which is white and i adore it. However, the photos have been on facebook and everyone has already seen it. Will it be a bit odd if i wore that?
Thanks for your nice comments about my mum, we are devastated but amazingly she is a trooper and is in good spirits. We are praying for a miracle. 53 is no age to die. Xxxx

One of the big charity shops around here has a wedding dress room ., some beautiful ones ( some not so ...) - worth a thought?

lillysmammy · 12/08/2017 09:03

I didnt even think of charity shops, i feel like im a loonatic for planning a wedding in 2 months. Thanks so much for all your help. I love this type of style of dress. This is a designer dress that a shop on ebay is selling from china. Its £120, free p&p. Do you think it would look dreadful in reality?
