Fish ok as only meat option?

Apologies for another menu thread!

DP and I have been veggie for years and have only recently started occasionally eating fish. The wedding will have loads of veggie friends but also some quite traditional meat & 2 veg type guests.

Everyone coming knows we don't eat meat and, though I don't think anyone would be expecting us to serve a meat option, some are probably wondering a bit worried what the food will be like.

Would you meat eaters be satisfied with being offered just one 'meaty' main dish and for that to be fish?

Am thinking probably Trout as most people seem to like it and we can get it locally so know where it's come from. Served with seasonal veg like new potatoes and asparagus. The other option will be a really nice veggie thing (probably filo parcel with tasty filling).

The wedding is ages away so idle thoughts at the mo but would be interested in your views.

I agree..I only eat fish in batter ...

I would maybe look at a second veggie , maybe a cheese option of some sort particularly for traditional older relatives.

I'd prefer the veg option over trout. Just not a fan of fish.

However I went to a meat free wedding recently. It was all delicious middle eastern food. It was colourful, really hearty and everyone else seemed to love it too, even my DP who believes a plate of meat is the be all end all.

We're veggie and didn't provide meat or fish. Even the stuffiest uncles were too polite to grumble.
This is a good point. Whatever you serve, people would have to be fucking rude to actually moan about it - unless it was a cannibal buffet, or an all-seafood menu or something! Even then, I think people would just politely 'not feel very hungry' and just nibble some bread.

Your friends will know you're both veggie so their expectation will probably be that the meal will be veggie anyway. Just go for it, veg it up!
