There are no weather warnings I can see on my app, all looks a bit warmer and a bit wetter. All the trains cancelled though.
is it really to be that bad? And why isn’t it on the weather apps, I’m sure it usually is.

I left my house in W Yorks 6am raining a bit but as I approached dd's up the hill in S Yorks it was snowing . It's actually settled now so I'm staying here a while she's at work. Will see what happens not getting stuck on the roads with little ones.
We were planning to go to Hull but what's the point of the stress of the roads.

BeyondMyWits · 23/11/2024 07:41

In suburban Gloucestershire here, the dull weather spot of England. And we have a yellow warning too.

It is a little wet and a bit gusty. But not "warning" bad as of yet. I'll still take the dog out for an hour. The dog walk is the gauge of bad weather here... maybe 3 walks a year get cancelled... Happy to live somewhere boring.

Rowgtfc72 · 23/11/2024 07:43

East coast here. It's very wet and cold. Not quite the 14 degrees promised. We're under a yellow rai and snow warning. High winds have been mentioned and most Christmas events have moved inside.

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 23/11/2024 07:43

Really heavy snow here (N Yorks). Wasn’t on the met office app as snow as late as 3am this morning for me, still showing as heavy rain.

VesperLind · 23/11/2024 07:45

Bucketing down snow here in W Yorks.

Where abouts in W Yorks are you?
i’m in west yorks too and its been snowing heavily for the last 3 hours & meant to until 10am.
would be good to know when the rain is coming! 😂

daisychain01 · 23/11/2024 08:03

There have been warnings all over the news this week, OP.

I feel cheated because Bert started at 6am Sat and goes on until 6pm Sun. So that's my whole weekend wiped out. What a waste of time, when last weekend I was out in the garden all day both days. Grrr.

whatwouldyoudoifisangoutofkey · 23/11/2024 08:07

Quiet here in SE London.
Light rain/drizzle.
Met office had me expecting heavy rain from 4am.
Has Bert done a swerve?

NoBiscuitsLeftInMyTin · 23/11/2024 08:17

Wind in west wales has picked up even more - it’s blowing like a hoolie.

Igneococcus · 23/11/2024 08:23

Windy and rainy here West coast Scotland but not too bad so far. Wind is coming from the SE which is very unusual. The trains on the West Highland line have been cancelled mostly today, or some have been replaced with buses for part of the way.

Glovesandscarf · 23/11/2024 08:25

A couple of hours ago there was a bit of drizzle. Now thick snow. I stand corrected!

County Durham. All quiet in the night but have woken to thick snow and it's continuing to fall.

FaceLikeACrackedScreen · 23/11/2024 08:45

They've just announced on BBC breakfast that an Met Office Amber warning for Yorkshire was only issued in the last hour which is annoying after they constantly overegg the weather forecast which then doesn't happen.

Near j39 M1 I don't know what it's like there now I'm stuck over the border! Hope the rain comes soon!

Useofstirm · 23/11/2024 08:50

Northampton here, wind getting up. Really feel for you all in the North x

TizerorFizz · 23/11/2024 08:54

I’m 35miles north west of London. It’s windy but no rain yet. Our sport event (racing at Ascot) is still on!

allmybooksarefromthelibrary · 23/11/2024 08:55

We’re supposed to be heading out from London this afternoon/ evening to just beyond Reading - wouldn’t normally be concerned, but we have to get back this evening as DD is babysitting but not old enough to leave overnight. Don’t want to risk the late trains being cancelled, but equally don’t want to be total drama llamas about it either.

Gorgonemilezola · 23/11/2024 09:05

NE England. Have about 5'' of snow but the temperature's supposed to start going up about midday.

Igneococcus · 23/11/2024 09:08

dd is sending pictures of snow in Edinburgh

I'm in Edinburgh, snowing heavily now.

miserablecat · 23/11/2024 09:12

I'm in Hertfordshire, the Christmas fair for tomorrow has been cancelled and the forecast is for heavy rain and high winds all weekend. So far is quite windy but not yet raining, maybe the calm before the storm.
I'm meeting family in London later so hopefully the trains are running ok

cherrysonata · 23/11/2024 09:13

It's wild here in Cornwall.

Luddite26 · 23/11/2024 09:14

Raining heavy now hopefully clearing the snow. South Yorkshire.

Frozensnow · 23/11/2024 09:15

I’ve been in a weather warning area for the past 4 days and now in one for today and tomorrow too. We’ve had a fair amount of snow this week which led to school closures and now that’s melting. So along with the rain predicted all day today and tomorrow, I’m concerned about flooding in my town because it does have a tendency to flood. Not my house luckily, but quite a few houses lower down the hill and the river always comes close to breaking its banks. So far here it’s just very rainy but not very windy as yet

Dontcallmescarface · 23/11/2024 09:16

N.Somerset here and it's wild. 2 power cuts so far.
