@youbadbadkitten ant idea?? Worried here and you are the weather oracle.

OP posts:
Chuffaluffa · 15/07/2023 21:10

Jesus, how stupid do you have to be to hope the uk reaches 40 degrees?

chocolateisavegetable · 15/07/2023 21:11

hopefully kitten will be along soon, but I believe that the Jetstream is “stuck” at the bottom of the UK and the current weather conditions are expected to continue into August

Marp · 15/07/2023 21:12

God I hope not. I was in India for work reasons a couple of years ago when it was 45 degree Celsius most days. It was unbearable. This is extreme heat, causes so much damage.

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 15/07/2023 21:12

@orangeleavesinautumn of course I 'realise'

Adverse weather kills and numbers will likely increase yearly

That goes for cold weather as well.

Well almost precisely a year ago we had the hottest temp recorded.
40 degrees. I was at Heathrow that day.

I was giving birth that day 😫😫

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 15/07/2023 21:00

So does extreme cold..

Sure, that's probably why you don't see people hoping for extreme, damaging cold weather.

It's odd that people hope for extreme, damaging hot weather though isn't it?

Sunnysunbun · 15/07/2023 21:20

I’ve heard nothing about August. I hope we stay cool.

loveledbury · 15/07/2023 21:21

With regard to crop damage: we are currently unable to get in the UK harvest due to poor weather. Soon crops will deteriorate with the constant rainfall (damage is probably already starting to occur). A heatwave here would be fantastic to get the combines rolling!

Lottapianos · 15/07/2023 21:21

No sign of anything resembling a heatwave up to end of July at least. And thank heavens for that. Feeling very grateful for our showery windy weather at the moment

It a absolutely scary, and tbh it really boggles my mind any posters that are hoping for it.

I thought most people were well educated these days.

Oh behave yourself.

BelindaBears · 15/07/2023 21:25

I really hope not and you’d have to be fucking dense to think otherwise. About 60,000 excess deaths in Europe last year wasn’t it? And this year’s heatwave is likely to be worse.

So am I

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 15/07/2023 21:25

@NuffSaidSam

Haha you do get people wanting the colder weather tho.... they can't bloody wait to get out the blankets, throws, pumpkins and candles! Everyone on snow watch for weeks....

xyz111 · 15/07/2023 21:27

Let's pray it doesn't. Remember the serious fires we had last summer?!

RampantIvy · 15/07/2023 21:28

Sunnysunbun · 15/07/2023 21:20

The cold wet weather is damaging crops right now.

The farmers aren't.

Winegumsarelife · 15/07/2023 21:31

I hope so, rain is bloody miserable!

MinimalistMe · 15/07/2023 21:32

I have a weather enthusiast cousin and he's informed me that we're not expected to have any more heatwaves this Summer and that temps are predicted to be below average or average in August 💁

Tbf I am a bit like this! But I don't want extreme cold, just an Autumnal nip in the air.

I'd also quite like a bit of sun, but not 40+ degrees.

TheFairyCaravan · 15/07/2023 21:35

I’d quite like it a bit drier and a bit warmer but I don’t want the extreme heat they’re getting in Southern Europe. I

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 15/07/2023 21:53

ForeverFriendsAndPierrot · 15/07/2023 21:01

You should start with educating YOURSELF then..

Oh really?

Please elaborate.

dod you learn nothing last year when it was 40c? Well I did. I ended up suffering heatstroke and was admitted to hospital.

It terrified me. I didn’t go outside that day. Our house is lovely and cool on a hot summer day. I still ended up very ill.

Houses were catching fire ffs.

So, what is it I need to educate myself about?

Clafoutie · 15/07/2023 22:21

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 15/07/2023 20:14

I hope so!

Really? You hope for temperatures in mid to high 40s? 🤔

Clafoutie · 15/07/2023 22:32

Chuffaluffa · 15/07/2023 21:10

Jesus, how stupid do you have to be to hope the uk reaches 40 degrees?

Exactly. It is hard to understand how people have not grasped this yet, and the number of posters on here saying ‘bring it on’.

GrapeHyacinth · 15/07/2023 22:35

I read a few days ago that its unlikely we'll see a repeat of last year with record temps as meteorologist would be seeing signs of it already but they're not. 🤞 as I hated it last year.
