Stormy middle of week next week - 11th/12th April

Been taking a bit of a breather from forecasting while the weather has been pretty benign. But it does look as though there's a reasonable chance of some very wet and very, very windy weather in the middle of the week next week. It's too early to talk about worst affected areas, other than western coastal areas at the moment look set to see the worst of the winds.

Snow on Wednesday. Scotland is in for a battering then.

EmmaEmerald · 10/04/2023 22:31

Oh no
I have to do a lot of running around on Wednesday, between meetings, all walking distance. Rotten timing!

TheWonderfulThingAboutTiggers · 10/04/2023 22:37

Weve cancelled a trip down south to Southampton on Wednesday in light of the winds. Do we think thursday will be better. And it is fairly certain for wednesday isn;t it? Im unsure I've done the right thing cancelling!

TokyoSushi · 11/04/2023 10:15

Currently glorious here in Cheshire, I'm sure it'll change soon enough!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/04/2023 12:52

Thursday will be better. Friday looks like a pretty wet start.

Mat office have jiggled the warnings around and added in a rain warning.

Tomorrows warning covers a wider area but finishes earlier.

First wave of rain arrived here. We've lit the fire and will hunker down now.

QuintanaRoo · 11/04/2023 16:42

Was lovely this morning, now grey, raining and windy .

i did cancel the week away in the caravan, felt depressed at the thought of a wet week away. Yesterday was terrible and tomorrow looks like it will be really bad. It was sleeting and thunder and lightning yesterday

Oblomov23 · 11/04/2023 16:50

Driven down from Surrey to Dorset to our caravan. It's been raining since 1pm. No sign of storm Antonio though. The roads were completely clear and the campsite is quite empty so I'm assuming that lots of people decided not to come. but we came just to check out our caravan as a maintenance weekend. The first opportunity that we had after it gets stored away for winter, so this was still a good idea. We are only here for a couple of days.

bizzey · 11/04/2023 17:43

@TheWonderfulThingAboutTiggers how strange !
I am going to Southampton tomorrow as well.

Can't cancel our trip as things are booked and planned but luckily all indoors.

I have had to have a re think on my outfits though !
Shallow I know 😅.

User0610139736 · 11/04/2023 17:46

I’m going on a cruise from Southampton tomorrow 🤣 🤢 going to purchase some travel sick meds I think!!

Youngatheart00 · 11/04/2023 17:47

After a bright morning it’s absolutely vile this afternoon in the West Mids!! Gusty wind and pouring with rain pretty consistently.

BiddyPop · 11/04/2023 18:36

DD was supposed to be sailing all week (last qual to be an instructor this summer), had a gusty enough day in Sligo last week to get on the course and now in Dublin expects no sailing tmrw and hopes to finish lots on the "non-sailing" day on Friday instead.

Might keep the crowds down for Secret Service and Biden's visit though...

Poblano · 11/04/2023 18:41

What's the likelihood of the bad weather tomorrow reaching up as far as London?

Currently in Wales, where it's hammering it down with rain, but travelling to London tomorrow and trying to decide which coat to take!

bizzey · 11/04/2023 19:06

A warm waterproof one !
It is pretty miserable here right now after the wonderful weekend we had !
Doesn't look much better for tomorrow.

I am in a jacket/coat quandary as well!

Poblano · 11/04/2023 19:40

Thanks @bizzey

So much for my plans to look glamorous in London! 🙄

TokyoSushi · 11/04/2023 20:24

Terrible here now in Cheshire, heavy rain, really windy, grim!

BouleBaker · 11/04/2023 20:54

What is happening in Southampton this week for everyone to come down? Which ship are you headed out on @User0610139736? No kore hail today but has been blowing a gale

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 11/04/2023 20:57

Absolutely vile here in the midlands. Driving rain and so bad winds! I'm not sure the recycle bin will survive out until the morning.

may be regretting my choice to buy a convertible that I collect at the weekend now!

User0610139736 · 11/04/2023 20:59

@BouleBaker P&O Brittania. First trip on my own with the 3dc after separating. It will be an adventure I’m sure! 😆

RafaistheKingofClay · 11/04/2023 21:22

Just put the recycling bins out. It’s anybody’s guess where they’ll be when I go to take them in tomorrow morning.

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 11/04/2023 21:32

Pretty windy over here. Can hear my garden gate banging against the wall. It can stay banging against the wall. A I cba getting dressed to go and lock it back up and B it means trying to turf DCat out of the conservatory and he's fast asleep under the radiator snoring his head off. The plus side though if it's still windy in the morning I don't need to spend 20 mins in the morning straightening my hair for work. I can just shove it up into a ponytail.

bizzey · 11/04/2023 21:35

User... sounds fab !

I am down for museum and a show !!
@BouleBaker
If you are Soton way ...you will know which one !

piedbeauty · 11/04/2023 22:14

Hmm. On holiday this week in Lancashire. Kids in hot tub in breezy weather this eve. Then a sun lounger flies across the deck onto the hot tub. They were lucky they weren't hurt. Stray gust, much stronger than we had been expecting.

Kittykatchunjy · 11/04/2023 22:18

Tomorrow does look pretty awful

TheCaddieisaBaddie · 11/04/2023 22:37

North Liverpool here, sounds like it is starting to quieten down a little.
