Not a great looking weekend but Sunday overnight into Monday is looking very stormy.
The metoffice have issued wind warnings for Storm Freya.

Lwmommy ~ the weather can never get it right, can it? Grin
Have had another look outside and we've had stuff blown around in the garden and both my bird tables have blown over. They've done that several times in windy weather and are beginning to look 'a bit ropey' now.

We had huge winds on Saturday night, peaked about 1am, bit breezy and very wet yesterday afternoon and evening. Still as anything now. Coastal NE England. What's that all about weather gurus?

Ffsnosexallowed · 04/03/2019 08:00

Sorry but a "gust" of 29 mph??? That's a breeze!

LesLavandes · 04/03/2019 08:01

Was mega windy in Brighton during night. I thought my house was going to take off. It's calmed down now

gingercat02 · 04/03/2019 08:08

Sorry Friday night not Saturday. We have seen nothing of Freya

GloriaSmud · 04/03/2019 08:49

Ffsnosexallowed ~ yes, it probably is classed 'as a breeze' but where my weather station is situated, is (not a very good spot in the back garden) fairly sheltered. If it had been around the front of the house, it would have registered a lot more (and the weather really does hit the front of our house.)

GloriaSmud you've got me interested in having a weather station! Do you have a professional connection to weather or just an interest? How fancy is your weather station? I've just had a look and they obviously vary widely.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/03/2019 10:00

I had a maximum gust of 31mph, it tends to under read somewhat, despite being mounted above the roof line, so I suspect we gusted to about 45mph.

GloriaSmud · 04/03/2019 10:17

onalongsabbatical ~ just an interest and still learning!
I got my station from Maplins (a few weeks before they went out of business!) but it's similar to this one.

Being out in all weathers, I have found that they don't last an awfully long time ~ maybe a couple of years but this type is OK for me. (I've got to take at look mine actually as I think its rain sensor has got a bit clogged ~ it thinks we haven't had any rain this year!)

GloriaSmud thank you! I shall look into getting one I think. Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/03/2019 14:41

Mine is at the other end of the cost spectrum and has lasted for 7 years. I do need to check the rain bucket hasn't clogged once in a while.

onalongsabbatical · 04/03/2019 15:01

OhYouBadBadKitten do you mean yours was super expensive or super cheap? I'm guessing expensive but I could be wrong!
There are some on Amaz as low as £15 but I expect they're not worth it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/03/2019 18:24

super expensive...

Soubriquet · 04/03/2019 18:27

I must say, apart from it being windy and very cold, we haven’t seen much of Freya

onalongsabbatical · 04/03/2019 19:04

Thanks Kitten I need to set a reasonable budget this isn't something I can blow big bucks on.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/03/2019 20:29

no sorry, that was rather facetious of me.

Lwmommy · 07/03/2019 07:01

Why are there no weather warnings for today? Forecast is showing 53 mile per hour gusts

Storm Freya
Lwmommy · 07/03/2019 07:19

Ok, is the BBC having problems, the wind has disappeared now??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2019 08:01

It will get gusty later as a cold front comes in, I think nothing too bad though.

lubeybooby · 07/03/2019 08:20

Freya knocked down 20ft of 4ft high brick garden wall, and installed a new water feature... the garden hose standpipe got ripped off with the wall and was merry spouting water 5ft into the air and was about to start flooding the neighbours garage before we managed to shut it off. So that was a joy! all sorted now though

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2019 08:28

Yikes!! That sounds like a bit of a catastrophe!
