Not a great looking weekend but Sunday overnight into Monday is looking very stormy.
The metoffice have issued wind warnings for Storm Freya.

I'm just picking up on this too.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2019 11:36

They must be expecting amber warnings to name it.

TokyoSushi · 01/03/2019 13:41

👀

You might be right there, OYBBK. I think I caught the words 'rapidly deepening low' on the lunchtime forecast.

Looks for hatches to batten down...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2019 14:55

It does look to be a rapidly deepening low, I think it may reach the technical status of a weather bomb.
Worth observing that in the latest GFS a secondary low pressure seems to form to the south of it. One to watch through the SE perhaps.

Soubriquet · 01/03/2019 14:58

I initially thought this was a baby name before I spotted it was in weather Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2019 14:59
Grin

I'm going to name my next cat storm freya.

Makinglists · 01/03/2019 20:01

Freya is a great name for a baby or a storm. Strong and powerful whats not to like. I live in S.Devon to sunday looks 'interesting'

GloriaSmud · 02/03/2019 06:52

Netweather's Jo Farrow has a Blog Entry here and thinks that the storm will be upgraded from a yellow to an Amber warning.

I'm liking Storm Freya as a cat's name Grin

Windy overnight with gusts of 50mph since about 2am. Not the strongest, but the direction made the windows howl.
Had proper rain yesterday too.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2019 09:22

Looks like many western coastal parts could see gusts to 80 mph.

GloriaSmud · 03/03/2019 10:27

Updated warnings ~ metoffice have moved the edge of the warning area southwards slightly to cover Norfolk/more of Cambridgeshire.

Wouldn't fancy commuting on Monday morning Confused

GloriaSmud · 03/03/2019 14:00

Looking wet and windy along Dawlish seafront.

OP posts:
BrizzleMint · 03/03/2019 14:51

I can confirm that there is indeed a ''rapidly deepening low'' as Freya has been sent to tidy her bedroom to atone for the chaos she has caused across the country.

I think she may be more volatile later though.

onalongsabbatical · 03/03/2019 15:11

Dawlish on Sky News right now re Freya.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/03/2019 16:30

I'm on my phone (think Freya has taken out my internet) so I can't check the latest models easily. Grrr.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 03/03/2019 16:32

I'm just outside Cambridgeshire on the Essex Suffolk border, the wind is getting quite strong and loud now.

TokyoSushi · 03/03/2019 16:45

Nothing at all here yet, as usual! Cheshire

We're getting heavy snow in Dublin, is that Freya or a different weather system?
