Current warnings from the metoffice. Looks awful for the SW ~ amber warning for rain, yellow warning for wind and there are warnings for other areas of the country today and over the next few days.

Think there are possibly signs of something a bit cooler (and how winter should be) from Tuesday onwards?

(Hope no one minds a new thread ~ weather warnings seem to be a regular thing at the moment)

DH is taking all 3 little Manky's to Scotland on Thursday next week and returning Saturday!

I am working so all my eggs will be in one basket without me! If Thursday is bad they will go Friday, but still...

Proper big fat flakes of snow lying on the Southside of Edinburgh ( higher up and a wee bit inland ) and even snow mixed in with sleet and rain at mine. Grin Grin Grin
Riding was rather chilly......

Excellent Perihelion ~ hope you enjoyed your snow Grin

There's a weather warning for ice/snow showers for eastern/central-ish bits of the country and it just about covers me! (not holding my breath for anything in the snow department though.)

Looking at this animation (note: won't work on iPad) there seems to be a grey mass moving fairly quickly down from Iceland to Scotland. At 21:00 on 14-Feb-2016 it as reached North Scotland.
What is it? Snow?

Brilliant drive this afternoon across Yorkshire, could see towering columns of snow clouds from miles and miles away. We were going into one and it went from rain on the edge and about 5.5 degrees (according to car, not sure of accuracy) to 1.5 and traffic almost at a standstill because of blizzard conditions in the middle. AFAIK tell no accidents so just a lot of fun to be had. Mega snow dump here on the east coast this evening too, really heavy for 10-15 mins. Not sticking though .

GloriaSmud · 15/02/2016 08:04

That sounds like a fun drive, Mr Slant!

Looks 'interesting' (as the weather forecasters say when they have no idea what's going to happen!) on Wednesday, as a front comes in from the west and hits the cold air. Could turn to snow for some?

light dusting of snow in east Surrey overnight.

We had a heavy hail shower last night in Dublin, which then froze hard on the car for this morning. And a sharp frost as well. Luckily, it was the 1 morning I didn't have to drive (early meeting in school so walked there with DH (DD cycled) and got bus to work - train station has no parking spaces left by 8.15am and I wouldn't be there until after 9).

I think it could be interesting later in the week though, as there is a lot of cold forecast. And DD is going sailing for Thurs, Fri for midterm (but adores it and was the only person to "fall" (translated - jumped!) into the water on Saturday, and still came out beaming!). I think it will be the winter wetsuit on Thurs though with a regular rash vest, as that looks the colder at present, and save the winter "skin" to go under the regular wetsuit for Friday (very hard to get winter suit on when wet). And hope I can find a second hat that will stay on her head.

Coldest night of the winter here -5.2C (Leicester) at the moment.
Still looking like it could be interesting for tomorrow when it comes to snow. All the forecasts for us has a band of precipitation that starts as rain but then the forecasts flip between us getting sleet/light snow overnight into Thursday, or heavy/light snow.
