Weather warnings ~ Sat 6th Feb onwards

Current warnings from the metoffice. Looks awful for the SW ~ amber warning for rain, yellow warning for wind and there are warnings for other areas of the country today and over the next few days.

Think there are possibly signs of something a bit cooler (and how winter should be) from Tuesday onwards?

(Hope no one minds a new thread ~ weather warnings seem to be a regular thing at the moment)

we went for a walk in a park and there were a lot of amorous pigeons today.

Early hours and through tomorrow look nasty for a good part of southern england. Hope those trampolines are tethered!

exLtEveDallas · 07/02/2016 21:35

We've just had a huge roll of thunder here in Worcs and now the heavens have opened. The rain is being swirled around so hard I've had to turn our security lights off back and front - they were flashing on and off like beacons.

sugar21 · 07/02/2016 21:38

Kit I'm down near the Lizard and it is howling here

Mummylin · 07/02/2016 21:41

In Dorset here and the wind is horrendous, I thought they said on the news it would reach here about 3am ?

BlackeyedShepherdsbringsheep · 07/02/2016 21:46

WMids

it rained and rained and rained some more yesterday.

the stream, possibly called a river but stream sized, was really up on the park. not topping the banks but it is really near the top and it is normally a piddly little thing.

another river, was over the banks and across fields, highest a local has seen in a couple of years. it has rained a lot more today and is currently blowy and rain battering against the windows.

Suzietwo · 07/02/2016 21:51

I'm meant to be flying from city airport to Isle of Man tomorrow. And back again. Erk

BlackeyedShepherdsbringsheep · 07/02/2016 21:57

oh ffs it is scarily roaring winds now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/02/2016 22:02

Hope it goes ok Suzie!

here its just wet and a bit blowy, off to bed soon but with torches at the ready as we lose power easily despite living in suburbia

LtEve, sounds exciting!

BlackeyedShepherdsbringsheep · 07/02/2016 22:15

we had two bouts of the roaring winds and now it is quiet. wonders if we are no longer in kansas

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/02/2016 22:15

wild here now! good storm on the radar

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/02/2016 22:16

lol blackeyed!
more to come.

SiencynArsecandle · 07/02/2016 22:45

North Wales here, flood warnings out all along the coast with high tides anyway, they're expecting serious flooding.

GloriaSmud · 07/02/2016 23:07

We had the storm pass through about an hour ago. Rain was so torrential, it set some car alarms off! All quiet now (for the moment)

All gone quiet in Dorset too, had massive downpour, now no rain or wind.

LadyStark · 07/02/2016 23:38

Horrid here in Surrey, can only imagine how horrible this wind and rain was on the coast etc.

It's like a wheelie bin massacre as it is bin day tomorrow and the wind has wiped them all out.

DramaQueenofHighCs · 07/02/2016 23:44

I hate the wind! We have a massive tree in our back garden quite close to the house that we can't afford to get done professionally but also can't cut down ourselves thanks to the possibility of roots going under the house! Sad every time there are strong winds I get convinced that I am going to go to bed and never wake up because it has flattened me or it will fall onto a neighbours house! Sad
Will be so glad when tomorrow is over and I'm [hopefully] still alive!

DramaQueenofHighCs · 07/02/2016 23:45

"Only" meant to get up to about 55mph here too so really thinking of those of you living in parts where it will be even worse!

toomanyeasterbunnies · 07/02/2016 23:51

Omg - massive roar where I am (surrey/london border) Not sure if it was thunder or something else. Rain is lashing down, car alarms going off...... a bit scared!,

dottyaboutstripes · 07/02/2016 23:53

I'm lying in bed and the bed is shuddering because of the wind outside. Kind of cracking myself that the windows are going to blow in or something Shock
I'm in SWales

DramaQueenofHighCs · 07/02/2016 23:57

Hampshire/Surrey border here and wondering if I should sleep downstairs! I've already got my audio book ready to take my mind off the storm when I'm trying to sleep!

zen1 · 08/02/2016 00:02

I'm in the South London and it's horrendous; driving rain, strong winds, thunder and lightening.

toomanyeasterbunnies · 08/02/2016 00:02

Think the noise was thunder. Checked lightningmaps.org and it is showing where I am. Phew!

zen1 · 08/02/2016 00:03

South London area

Mummylin · 08/02/2016 00:10

Oh I hope we don't get lightening as well. The wind dosent worry me but thunder and lightening do, I'm always convinced our house will get struck ! Expecting winds between 70 and 80. Mph winds here. I can hear it building up again after about an hour of calm . I am on the Dorset coast.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/02/2016 09:02

Peak gusts look set to hit the SW around lunchtime - 70mph in places (higher on exposed cliffs)
Mid afternoon looks to be worst for Sussex, again gusts of 70mph. Inland gusts of 50-60mph as far north as south Wales.
Slowly easing through the evening.

For SE commuters keep an eye on train journeys on the way home.
