All change come the weekend. We can wave goodbye to lovely warmth, sitting in the garden, drying clothes on the line and say hello to our wellies again.

Outlook looks much more mobile from the weekend, with potential gales perhaps on Monday. Something Im keeping an eye on.

The rain hasnt hit here really yet. So much colder - what a difference a day makes. Contemplating heating - but as its 19C still in the house it wouldnt come on even if i put it on. But it looks like we need it when you look outside.

It rained here quite a bit through the night, but it's not raining here now/yet. The temp has definitely taken a dive though. Might need to do something about some winter clothes!

What a difference a day makes...
24 little hours...
What the sun and the flowers where there used to be rain....

  • be glad there's no sound attached Grin
is a much better option (better than the original too if you ask me).

I still have the kitchen and all the bedroom windows wide open, so definitely not considering putting the heating on, but it does LOOK like the kind of day where that would be nice. I'm struggling to stay awake as it is, if I put the heating on I'll curl up like a cat!

GloriaSmud · 06/10/2014 12:42

'Tis 'orrible here ~ dull, damp and 10.5C and like others, my finger was hovering over the central heating button earlier. After a wet schoolrun, it seems to have stopped raining for the moment. At least the rain over the coming days will water the onions I planted yesterday at the allotment!

SpottyTeacakes · 06/10/2014 12:45

Wet wet wet. So much water on the roads too

ChippingInLatteLover · 06/10/2014 13:51

It's been raining on & off since I last posted. It's grey and miserable looking with a bit of wind thrown in for good measure. So looking forward to the school run.

saintlyjimjams · 07/10/2014 15:51

Ha! I took a photo of this twister - thought it looked like one (spotted it from my kitchen window), but wasn't sure until I saw it in the Daily Mail!

Nice waterspout! I'm very jealous! Would love to see your pic if it came out ok?

Bloody weather! Its freezing cold in the morning then bloody 16-17oC in the afternoon! Make your mind up!!

HesterShaw · 07/10/2014 17:44

There's a Be Prepared warning for coastal flooding in Cornwall on tomorrow's high spring tides.

This is just like old times Hmm

digerd · 07/10/2014 17:48

S.Herts
We did have 2 degrees one morning with a clear sky and my sitting room plummeted to 16.5.
The next morning it was 10 but sitting room still 16.5 Confused. Yesterday was horrible for dog walkers and today, despite having the rain in the night and occasionally in the day, the air was cold.

Have had the electric fire on low just in sitting room and strange that 19.5 feels much warmer than with the gas CH rads.

We did have 16 out but now 11.8 with a clear sky.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/10/2014 18:08

It is Hester :(

I'm still managing to hold off the heating but mostly cos I'm really stuffy and its easier to breath if its cool. It is still 20C in here, so I guess our insulation is paying off.

It's a bit of a crap photo kitten - just taken with my phone from the back step. If I'd known what it was I would have gone onto the roof terrace to take a photo (would have been able to see the sea as well then).

New month, new weather.
saintlyjimjams · 07/10/2014 18:39

Ha you really do need to click on that photo to have any chance of seeing it.

HesterShaw · 07/10/2014 18:55

I see it! A tornado! We used to watch them coming up the Bristol Channel - thankfully they never reached land.

OYBBK, DH is thinking the same about the coming autumn/winter. An awful lot of energy in the system wanting to rebalance itself or something. A very mild stormy winter followed by a warm spring, summer and early autumn (with the exception of a few weeks in August)...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/10/2014 19:06

Very cool, thanks for posting it - I live in hope of seeing waterspouts when I'm by the coast and never managed it :) if you want you could send it to Torro. They collect reports of funnel clouds and water spouts as well as tornadoes. As you can't see if it's touching water, it might get classified as a FC rather than a WS.

OP posts:
saintlyjimjams · 07/10/2014 19:46

Yes I thought it was a funnel cloud. I think it might have been just after the even though (comparing the time with the daily mail)

HesterShaw · 08/10/2014 17:03

We're having a full on thunderstorm here, complete with scary lightning and torrential rain.

digerd · 08/10/2014 18:01

S.Herts
Just been battered with a torrential hailstone storm even the dog was scared by the noise on my lean to roof and paving stones on the ground.
Thank goodness we did the final dog walk an hour ago when it was dry but cloudy and mild.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/10/2014 18:22

It seems that there has been some extra lively weather with some severe damage to homes. If anyone is in Bromborough or Alfreston please can they check out this thread

thanks :)

Just east of Plymouth here - very squally and some big flashes of lightening. Getting quite exciting

ChippingInLatteLover · 08/10/2014 22:30

Torrential rain here this afternoon too (though that's lay terms 'torrential' OYBBK will probably tell me the correct term Grin). Flooded a lot of the roads around here and I ended up with a bit of aqua planing but all's well that ends well!

Wondering if we're going to get another winter like last year though. If so I'll forget the snow boots & buy some waders!

BlackeyedSusan · 08/10/2014 23:15

we have had a lot of rain the last two days. one of the local roads has flooded twice. in two days. The road ours runs into was flooded today too. not seen that before.

GloriaSmud · 09/10/2014 14:09

More thundery showers around this afternoon ~ quite a few coming up from the SW here, and lightning strikes showing up here and here.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2014 20:09

Big storm here atm
