All change come the weekend. We can wave goodbye to lovely warmth, sitting in the garden, drying clothes on the line and say hello to our wellies again.

Outlook looks much more mobile from the weekend, with potential gales perhaps on Monday. Something Im keeping an eye on.

'Torrential' rain again this afternoon, could barely see the car in front then later on another bloody 'aqua planing' experience on the way home, same road in a different place (country road, no lighting). It was a nightmare last year - wonder if we're in for another winter like that. Already driving home in the dark & it's a shitty drive in the dark, no lighting, narrow country road, bloody trucks thundering up and down it and lots of wildlife - particularly stupid deer :(

Quite a bit of flooding elsewhere too.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/10/2014 20:31

Crumbs. I managed to miss all of the rain today.

Pee'd down fetching child from school. Stopped a while. Chucked it down on very busy dual carriage way with lorries everywhere. Bucketed down on walk to Piano lesson. Stopped a while... recommenced bucketing on walk back. On & off not tooo heavily on the way home. Stopped. Absolutely chucked it down as I got out the car... I looked like nothing on this earth by the time I got through the door. Ah well, shan't melt unfortunately!!

Saturday's forecast on bbc weather for my locality shows the lightning symbol from 9am til 5pm. What the hell is going on there then? Is it the biggest storm in existence or more that they think it will thunder but don't know when yet?

meglet · 09/10/2014 22:55

I'm still not sure the water table has dropped that much since the wet winter. There's a stream in our local park and despite the dry summer the water level stayed high Hmm.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/10/2014 05:19

We had a power cut for three hours shortly after I posted

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/10/2014 07:50

meglet - that info is easily available here :)

Juniper, its more probable that there are going to be a lot of convective showers, some of which may become electrified.

My problem is my washing. Its not cold enough for the heating, but we havent had a single day without heavy showers. It's piling up! I'm hopeful of a dry slot for a good part of Sunday.

I have a large load of towels in. It's bound to start raining in about half an hour Grin Sorry all!!

ChippingInLatteLover · 10/10/2014 20:08

The towels dried quickly on the line :)

No rain, so aqua planing on the way home :)

Left work on time so it was light when I drove home :)

3/3 can't be bad Grin

JuniperTisane · 10/10/2014 21:19

Nice and windy here today too. I did get lots of washing dry in my tumble drier.

The storms have disappeared. Now its just going to rain Hmm

GloriaSmud · 12/10/2014 21:35

Weather warning for heavy rain for tomorrow.
Looks like an 'orribly autumnal start to the week.

BlackeyedSusan · 12/10/2014 21:40

It is cold. I have transitioned rapidly from too hot to too cold in the space of about a week.

this morning bought fog and cold. made a change from rain. everything in the flat is damp, even previously dry stuff. washing is taking an extra day to dry. lucky to have had some sunny spells otherwise it would be three days to dry.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/10/2014 21:56

I am currently too hot having lit the woodburner for the first time to get our clothes dry. I'd got used to the cool.

I was helping at a horse show this morning here in lovely Jersey and by the time i got home the rain had soaked through my coat, my hoodie, my jeans, my tshirt and my bra.

It was a bit damp.

Now apparently we have force 9 gales.

I dont care. The heating is on. I love autumn/winter!

JillJ72 · 13/10/2014 06:19

North Bucks. Rain and wind and rain and more wind. That's today's forecast from start to finish, and I've been listening to the wind howl down the wood burner for the last hour, and the rain..... The ground seems to be pretty sodden after a wet week, and the chickens' run has sunk from the wet winter. They will not be hugely happy when they get up; they do prefer sun to rain, so I expect an ear bashing Grin

GloriaSmud · 13/10/2014 14:18

Grin at Jill's nagging chickens!
Yes, 'tis truly grotty today ~ wet, windy and a chilly 11.2C. I'm still trying to stop myself from putting on the heating!

ChippingInLatteLover · 13/10/2014 14:27

SE It's chilly here as I've had all the doors and windows open to let a bit of air in, which was fine when I was hoovering etc, not quite so fine now I'm sitting here with a coffee and will be less 'fine' when I jump in the shower in a minute. I am so envious of all of you with open fires/log burners... central heating (which isn't even on yet) is just not the same :(

Gloria I haven't got the heating on yet either, it's really not cold enough to bother, but I'm tempted just to feel 'cosy'. Given I'm sitting here in running shorts & a tshirt it would be madness though! Grin Just gone to check - according to the remote combi thingy it's 15 deg in here.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/10/2014 14:31

We put our shitty storage heaters on a week ago. Dd's asthma was playing up and it was feeling a bit damp. They have two temperatures: freezing or boiling Hmm

digerd · 14/10/2014 10:43

S.Herts.
Fed up dog walker here.
Not put the gas CH on yet but have an electric fire on low - thermostatically controlled- in sitting room but have only 19.5 degrees in here and 13.8 outdoors.

SpottyTeacakes · 16/10/2014 06:41

It feels milder this morning, haven't been outside though!

Oybbk do you remember last year the poss tornado when dp got stuck between two trees? Although the trees were moved to the side nothing else has been cleared up. It's still a path of fallen trees, broken fences and hanging power lines!

I'm hoping for a much calmer winter Smile
