A thread to discuss the good and bad reports in the media,TV etc.

Starting with a favourite that's often good for a laugh, the front page of the Daily Express this morning.

There was also this programme Britain's Killer Storms that was on Channel 4 on Sunday. Not sure what it's like but have recorded to watch later.

Yes it is Grin
I've just realised it should be their readers; not they're readers. I did get GCSE English, I really did!

I love this blog which summarises things very nicely!

Some great pictures here of a storm front over Sydney (Australia).

And the Express have noticed we're in for some warm weather (and a few bits of it might be accurate for once!)

The Express are at it again, forecasting that it's going to be a warm Spring.

Oh for pities sake!

I like how they (mis?)use data from the met office after lambasting them recently for the misinterpretation they used for the winter forecast. I've not looked yet for myself though.

GloriaSmud · 26/04/2014 08:58

The Daily Mail has some excellent pictures here of the Great Lakes still covered by ice after the very harsh winter.

I'd been keeping an eye on the weather in the USA over the weekend - it looked like to be a severe weather event - looking at reports here the predictions were correct. Poor people.

mankyscotslass · 28/04/2014 21:37

And more warnings now.Sad Sad

mankyscotslass · 29/04/2014 06:20

Further reports here

GloriaSmud · 02/05/2014 11:41

Poor people Sad I think this is only the start of the tornado season as well.

GloriaSmud · 04/06/2014 09:50

Guess who's at it again with their 'forecasting!'

And heard about this yesterday on the news (and thought it was a load of rubbish!) about hurricanes given female names causing more damage.

You beat me to that link!

Coverage of yesterdays tornado outbreak in Nebraska here

Poor people.

GloriaSmud · 17/06/2014 21:16

Meant to post this a week or so ago ~ this is from Eddie Mair's column in the Radio Times about how he admires weather forecasters/presenters.

manky ~ poor Nebraska. Double tornadoes as well. So much damage done.

Interesting report of the current drought in the USA here

GloriaSmud · 03/07/2014 09:13

I saw this on the news last night. Seems unbelievable to go that length of time without rain. I found the US Drought Monitor here and this is for Oklahoma.

Dust devils in The Gorbals here

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/07/2014 15:04

I think they are hoping that El Niño will bring some welcome rain for the states later on in the year.

mankyscotslass · 14/07/2014 19:46

Can you imagine being caught in this hailstorm in your swimsuit? ouch

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/07/2014 20:04

Oh goodness! That looks severe. Thanks for posting the link.

GloriaSmud · 20/07/2014 10:40

I watched this last night on i-Player (available for another 4 days.) Thought it was quite good at explaining why things happen when it comes to the weather. Also going to try and watch Operation CLoudLab when I get a moment (think there's another part this week.)

Shock at the Siberian hailstorm

GloriaSmud · 29/07/2014 11:37
