No idea why the met office haven't got warnings out....

There's a dodgy little low pressure that's spun up - not unusual in these circs that could bring wide spread snowfall later today. Those in the south should be especially aware, though it could affect those in the north and east too. If you are heading out I'd take shovels and blankets just in case.

kitten. Found it in my normal e-mails inbox, just now.

Think I'll wear my sky blue eskimo outfit as the sky is still dull grey, not as bulky as my pinky/cerise one, but brighter in colour.
Little dog has her own natural fantastic very thick fur coat.
Time to get ready now to brave the elements with a very cold wind to boot.

We have a microclimate in Sussex. Famous for it, because of the Downs and the sea and other stuff.

MandragoraWurzelstock · 01/04/2013 10:06

Guys stop it, people are taking it seriously. I nearly cancelled our plans earlier.
And the children are going to be fed up.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 10:06

You take things on the internet seriously?
That can be rather dangerous.

Pan · 01/04/2013 10:07

Our local is called The Snowman's Arms we get that much of the stuff.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 10:12

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 10:13

Oh well done Mordecai!

Crickeybill, I'm afraid I don't know, it's very random today!

You might be on the wrong side of the Downs, and too close to the metropolis.
DSis says it's not snowing in Farnham.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 10:14

A microclimate is where local features affect the climate. For instance I live in a frost hollow, we are usually 2-3C below the rest of the area on cold nights because of the way the valley funnels the cold air.

The Bull Inn you say. Large shovels needed there then...

crikeybill · 01/04/2013 10:15

Oh....I feel a bit silly now.....deflates.....

TheNebulousBoojum · 01/04/2013 10:15

microclimate :
'A microclimate is a local atmospheric zone where the climate differs from the surrounding area. The term may refer to areas as small as a few square feet (for example a garden bed) or as large as many square miles.
Microclimates exist, for example, near bodies of water which may cool the local atmosphere, or in heavily urban areas where brick, concrete, and asphalt absorb the sun's energy, heat up, and reradiate that heat to the ambient air: the resulting urban heat island is a kind of microclimate.

Another contributing factor to microclimate is the slope or aspect of an area. South-facing slopes in the Northern Hemisphere and north-facing slopes in the Southern Hemisphere are exposed to more direct sunlight than opposite slopes and are therefore warmer for longer.'

Hope it doesn't snow in Essex. We no longer have a snow shovel after helping someone dig their car out of snow in Peak District last weekend. Chancer gave me a lift to the pub then drove off with my shovel.

Sorry gallicgirl Blush. I'll post it back. It may smell a bit though.

Dd is astoundingly excited now that I've shown her the forecast!

DH reports lots of snowfall at Lydden Hill racetrack. DS1 won't get out of the car and the races are all delayed while they grit the track. He's glad he took the Landrover.

Still no snow here at home Smile

I live in a mircoclimate or is a bubble? Can't quite remember what my therapist called it now.

OYBBK I did not believe you this morning until I looked out of the window just now to see...snowflakes falling.
