No idea why the met office haven't got warnings out....

There's a dodgy little low pressure that's spun up - not unusual in these circs that could bring wide spread snowfall later today. Those in the south should be especially aware, though it could affect those in the north and east too. If you are heading out I'd take shovels and blankets just in case.

It's starting here in Sussex now, grey and overcast and quite large flakes.
Hope it settles, cold enough.
DS loves the snow. He's just set off for his holiday job, bouncing at the thought.Smile

TheNebulousBoojum · 01/04/2013 09:50

Cat's seriously unhappy though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:51

Is anyone old enough to remember the polar low in 1969?

MandragoraWurzelstock · 01/04/2013 09:52

I've told my children it's supposed to snow, they were very excited.

MrsAFlowerpot · 01/04/2013 09:52

OYBBK I luffs you - moreso as it's Easter hols so I didn't even panic before remembering the date Wink

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:52

My bad cat gets driven demented by the snow, tries to keep an eye on every flake!

Surely you aren't letting your ds head out in this? I hope his wellies are tall!

That's encouraging Kitten. Can't decide which of my eskimo outfits to wear as they are different 'togs'. Then it takes me ages to get it all on. But little dog is very patient with me.
Didn't know I had an inbox and don't know how to check it < must try and find it>

Pan · 01/04/2013 09:56

Wow, it's billowing down with snow here in the Peaks. Has been since just after midnight. Shovels ready.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:56

A little envelope at the top of your screen. :)

Oh well done Pan, glad to see you are prepared. Have you got tins and stuff in? The Peak District can get really blocked up can't it.

He's huge, and built like a werebear. In bad weather I launch him out to do the shopping, with a sledge to tow. I like watching the flakes through a window with a Brew

MandragoraWurzelstock · 01/04/2013 09:58

I'm just worried in case the snow DOESN'T happen and they are disappointed

(time to own up maybe?)

GloriaSmud · 01/04/2013 09:58

Netweather think satellites are responsible for the cold weather, could they be responsible for this polar low as well?

wearingpurple · 01/04/2013 09:59

Noooo! Driving up from Dorset to Cardiff Airport tomorrow morning for holiday flight. Hope this doesn't happen.

Pan · 01/04/2013 09:59

Well I tried to stock up this morning but the local shop was emptied already and I won't be able to get the car out. Shovelling will be done later.....

MandragoraWurzelstock · 01/04/2013 10:00

guys...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 10:01

They could peturb the upper atmosphere Gloria. I hadn't considered that before....

mandragora, I always try to remember to put a disclaimer at the top, I'd hate for anyone to rely on me! Some days more than others.

A few yeas ago, I got snowballed by DS in August. He's apparently saved a stash in the freezer and waited months.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 10:02

Wearingpurple, I'm confident you'll be fine :)

BikeRunSki · 01/04/2013 10:02

So being in Gloucestershire and planning to drive home to Yorkshire tommorow may not be a great plan?

eatyourveg · 01/04/2013 10:03

Well I'm Kent too and its sunny here - Toby must be the other end of the county - local bbc forecast on breakfast this morning said 5 degrees and sunny today but with bitterly cold wind lasting all week, the only part of the map that wasn't sunny was the surrey kent border - definitely an April fool I'd say

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 10:04

I like your ds's style Nebulous!

Pan, I do hope you are going to be ok? We might be seeing you on the bbc in a few days time. Can you struggle down to your local pub, that's where they like to do reports from.

OP posts:
TheNebulousBoojum · 01/04/2013 10:05

Well, you could detour round Worcestershire and the Peak district, BikeRunSki.
Perhaps you could take a ferry round Scotland?

Pan · 01/04/2013 10:05

Oh more fool you for not believing OYBK. There's lots to shovel up here.
