Surprise snowfall expected.

No idea why the met office haven't got warnings out....

There's a dodgy little low pressure that's spun up - not unusual in these circs that could bring wide spread snowfall later today. Those in the south should be especially aware, though it could affect those in the north and east too. If you are heading out I'd take shovels and blankets just in case.

Blimey, already Toby!

Puppy, it is a lovely surprise if you like snow, a last hurray!

nothing here yet, about 10 miles from Toby I think

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:20

Anyone else startled at the amount of snow they have?

PuppyMonkey · 01/04/2013 09:21

No, I mean if it is expected, it's not really a surprise...Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:23

Nothing would surprise us nowadays :(
Except if it got warm! Now that would be an unbelievable surprise!

Can we have a few locations and counties sprinkled around these reports please?
It's very frustrating.

TheNebulousBoojum · 01/04/2013 09:24

Or put where you live on your profile?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:24

Toby is Kent, I can't remember where sparkling is. Hope she is ok!

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2013 09:31

I'm still here watching the cars trying to get up the road.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:32

Perhaps it's safer to stay at home. How deep is it now?

OP posts:
TheNebulousBoojum · 01/04/2013 09:32

In Kent, Sparkling?
Or the Cairngorms?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:34

Cairngorms is due to get fog tomorrow. That doesn't sound like fun!

TheNebulousBoojum · 01/04/2013 09:36

All that atmospheric mist...Smile

digerd · 01/04/2013 09:37

S.Herts
Think the sky is getting brighter - still hoping for sun and no snow before little dog walk at 10.30
Perhaps I should go out now before it snows.

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2013 09:37

Worcestershire.

sassytheFIRST · 01/04/2013 09:39

Really, sparkling? Not a flake here in Kidd!!

MooncupGoddess · 01/04/2013 09:39

Aargh - I'm supposed to be on a boat sailing down the Essex coast later today. The Met Office forecast looks fine, do you think the polar low will affect us?

DizzyHoneyBee · 01/04/2013 09:41

Sparklingbrook, I don't believe you for a minute - unless you have freak weather conditions just a couple of miles down the road Grin

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2013 09:41

Ooh sassy I believe it is very localised. My Dad is 2 miles away hasn't had a flake. Shock

Sparklingbrook · 01/04/2013 09:43

Freak i tell you Dizzy. You are so lucky.

LillethTheCat · 01/04/2013 09:43

ooh its just started snowing here in North Yorkshire too. So its not just the south. Hope it doesn't lay

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:44

That's the nature of these lows, they are very discrete. (In the science sense not the keeping a secret sense!)

digerd · 01/04/2013 09:45

I think it's an April Fool. Still looking at the sky for it breaking up into blue and looks promising < wishful thinking>

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:47

I think you should be ok where you are digerd. Enjoy your walk and check your inbox :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/04/2013 09:48

Lilleth, I'm being a rubbish forecaster today, sorry, the air flow must be very unstable, which can be enough to set off a stream of polar lows.
