Snowing on the south coast again

At this rate I won't get DP back from Scotland Sad

Dd not seen daddy for 3 weeks, AND I NEED A BREAK!!!!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 09:50

Schilke I'm not quite sure how much you will get out of this, there's quite a lot on the radar coming your way and it seems to be beefing up. I'm quite surprised the met office aren't expanding their warnings westwardly.

Snowing again in South Birmingham. The chickens have retreated back into the coop.

CarrieDon · 20/01/2013 09:51

Morning OYBBK

Thank you for all the info and updates. I love these weather threads!

We had a wonderful snow day on Friday and although there has been a bit of a thaw, we still have a couple of inches left and it's started to snow again albeit lightly.Hoping for a proper covering so the school doesn't expect us to brave the ice and fog tomorrow.

In your opinion what are the best websites for us lay people to look at for an accurate forecast? Who do you rate?

pigsinmud · 20/01/2013 09:53

Thank you kitten. We were right on the border of the met office warning yesterday. Must stop hovering on this thread and looking out the window.....got dd1's party to get ready for this afternoon!

wildirishrose · 20/01/2013 09:56

Yuck, snowing again and its freezing cold.

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2013 09:57

If South Birmingham have snow it's heading this way then. Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 09:58

Sparkling I think it may go on for longer than that this evening for you.

Twl, it may not make it to the coast (north and west) but if you are more central then you may at least see some. But perhaps you ought to stay at home tomorrow anyway to recover from your bug? I hope you feel better soon.

OYBBK- I'm in Birmingham! Met office are predicting light snow today, day and night, but they said that Friday and then all hell broke loose! What d'you reckon to our chances of another day off school?? Grin
We got half a day Friday which was better than nothing!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 09:59

CarrieDon, I'd always go for the met office over any other site.

How long might it last in Kent?

duckyfuzz · 20/01/2013 10:01

Snowing again in co Durham, earlier than expected. It's snowed every day for the last week now!

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2013 10:03

Thanks OYBBK. Hopefully it will be enough to make me sure the journey isn't worth it/stop the bus running.

wibblyjelly · 20/01/2013 10:04

Snowing in East London!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 10:07

Abbier, there is a reasonable chance I think of enough to produce some accumulation, so it depends on how good the council is at sorting it out Grin

Toby, I think late afternoon, early evening.

SchmancyPants · 20/01/2013 10:09

OYBBK, what do you think are the chances for a snow day off school tomorrow in Chislehurst, Kent? I'd like to know whether to plan my lessons or not!

TobyLerone · 20/01/2013 10:12

Woohoo! OYBBK, you are the best!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 10:12

Schmancy, I guess it depends on how quickly your council can get the roads clear over night. Once it stops snowing I'm afraid they will have plenty of chance to get their act together!

OP posts:
SchmancyPants · 20/01/2013 10:14

Thanks :) I guess I will start planning then!

Sparklingbrook · 20/01/2013 10:17

It's snowing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/01/2013 10:18

freezing fog could be a real issue tomorrow morning in the south.

CarrieDon · 20/01/2013 10:21

Okay, Met Office it is. I do find the chat on here very interesting for interpreting how the weather conditions will actually impact what we can do. Well done Kitten.

So another duvet day, perhaps two...bliss.

missmakesstuff · 20/01/2013 10:29

Snowing quite hard in Maidstone, Kent - toby I am with you...do I plan my lessons or not!

I have to try to get the car out to go and get my DD from her grans, we had a night out...but the car is tightly parked and they haven't gritted out road..eeek!

I really hope it stays, hate the thought of the drive to work in this and the kids being all over excited all day.
