looks potentially nasty for Scotland and parts of northern England, severe gales expected.

Very gusty wind in Leicestershire. It quietened down a bit and the sun came out around 4pm,but it is raining now and the wind seems to be increasing.DD1 has a cross country race tomorrow afternoon,so hope it improves by then.

KatyMac · 11/11/2010 20:24

It has been wet all day here (until about 5ish) & this afternoon the sky was a very odd orange colour (norfolk)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/11/2010 20:27

should be a lot better tomorrow MrsC

Wind picking up a bit now!

We just moved the empty wheelie bins into a sheltered spot.

THe wind is whistling down the chimney, and we have shut the bedroom windows.

It's still not as bad as I was expecting (yet)!!

whomovedmychocolate · 11/11/2010 21:31

We have severe gales here (Oxfordshire). I have got soaked three times today Hmm

I have just watched the cast iron table skitter across the terrace outside. Shock

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/11/2010 22:22

manky - you may be shielded from the worst of it?
wmmc - that is pretty imressive!

morning all - how have you all fared. Pretty blowy night down here in the south, but nothing I suspect compared to what some of you have had.

Bright and windy here. Got quite windy overnight tho.

Haven't looked out the front yet (wind facing) but the back garden seems to have faired well.

mankyscotslass · 12/11/2010 09:29

It got a bit blowy overnight, but not too bad, and there isn't a lot of debris lying around. I think we got off lightly!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/11/2010 09:58

good news manky :)

we have one large tree down near us, but I think it must have been a bit rotten as it has snapped half way up.

ohmy god it was blowy last night!

Walking back from at 1ish was hard work. It was difficult to walk. branches were coming off trees (and hitting me on the headHmm) wheelie bins scootling down the road...full ones!

We have a pirate ship in the garden (obviously a toy lol) and the flag is in tatters!

Luckily we didn't get the rain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/11/2010 10:03

Sounds wild!!!

Blimey, my end of Denton there was nothing!

Although a friend thinks some of the roof tiles on her house slipped last night.

petunia · 12/11/2010 11:33

Looks like northern areas were really affected ~ metmonkey report and from the bbc.

midnightexpress · 12/11/2010 14:19

One of ds1's school friends came rushing up this morning to tell me that his trampoline had blown away in the night. I don't think it actually disappeared without trace, but was heading off down the road. Hope there was nobody coming in the other direction after a few pints. Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/11/2010 15:07

Grin you know I'm always warning about those pesky escaping trampolines!

You know talking of things blowing away I did once loose a whole 6 tier plastic greenhouse, never found out where it went, none of the neighbours on our close ever reported it blowing into their garden, but it went away one wild and stormy night Shock I've always attributed it to the wind??

Portofino · 14/11/2010 21:21

Well a little update from me. I got to Dunkirk to find that the ferry was delayed for 2 hours. Sat there for ages whilst it blew a hooley looking at a sign that repeated flashed "very bad weather conditions" getting more and more nervous.

Finally got on ferry to a force 10 announcement and that children must be kept seated. Eek! The crossing was fine actually, but we waiting 2 hours off the coast to get in to Dover Port. So 5 hours late in the end. Everyone else on the ferry just settled in to get drunk!
