ROFL @ "dangerous out-of-date muppet"

"at the end of the day the best person to take advice from is your hv or gp. Dont wean or not wean purely on the advice of people on here as people are only giving you their opinions and they are not trained professionals.

If your hv says what u are doing is best for your baby and u are happy then follow what she says."

Aaarrggghhh!!!!

OOh getyourownjuice is losing it!! I lost it the other day and got banned TBF, I shouldn't have wrote that, I just got mega pissed off, and had PMT

AnarchyAunt · 08/10/2008 11:38

All their trumpeting about 'six natural ingredients'...

Fruit yoghurt surely only needs two, ie, yoghurt, and fruit.

Or am I a big silly for not falling for their shite?

The trouble is the sheer witlessness of these people drives me to distraction. Think I may have been a bit out of order on the latest 0-3 offering but never mind...

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 08/10/2008 11:43

Muller little stars ingrediants here. Why would you need carrot juice concentrate? Or cornflour? And what exactly are natural flavourings?

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 11:44

Thing they don't get it this recent post from fedupandisolated (on an MN thread)

I'm an ex-midwife and now a HV - as part of my HV education I had just one afternoon devoted to breastfeeding - half of which was taken up with the anatomy of the breast. Dreadful. For my co-students that had not been midwives it was just not enough - they were expected to learn "on the job" from HVs with the same appalling lack of training.

An AFTERNOON of training, one AFTERNOON.
HVs are not Doctors.

AnarchyAunt · 08/10/2008 11:44

Which one?

wasabipeanut · 08/10/2008 11:47

I think "natural flavourings" covers a multitude of wierdness.

Whatever - I won't let ds have them anymore.

Sorry because this is going off subject a bit but the whole marketing to kids (and in this case trying to clamber on the "natural" bandwagon" just makes me so furious. You can just imagine the boardroom conversations:

"Who is the most vulnerable and easily targeted group that we can market our pointless, overpriced crap to?" On yes. Children.

This one I've just realised it's an old post though, I thought it was someone being spectacularly stupid and obnoxious after the last few days on there.

wasabipeanut · 08/10/2008 12:00

Hells bells are these people illiterate?

This is all very saddening.

FlabbyTumSquashyBum · 08/10/2008 13:16

Is there a limit on how much milk babies can have? And is it considered safer to introduce solids rather than give more milk once they reach that limit?

I just wonder who makes the rules because obviously no one knows how much a bf baby takes, so how do 'they' (whoever 'they' are!) know how much a baby needs? And surely all babies are different anyway? My bf baby could be taking 1000oz a day for all I know as she's nener off the boob!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 08/10/2008 13:35

Well, as far as b/feeding is concerned - babies are pretty good at regulating their own appetite and needs so they'll literally just feed until they've had enough.

I've no idea how the rules regarding volume are laid down to formula companies but I would presume that with bottle-fed babies the same applies - as long as they have the right sized teat and the formula is mixed appropriately, they'll drink what they need and stop when done.

I suppose the area greys a bit when parents dont always realise when their baby is 'done', or, if their baby might want more and can have?

Babies tummies are only little....

Aitch · 08/10/2008 13:51

modern fomula eeding advice has it that you should expect to throw out milk every time, ie demand feed until they stop... not run out. i did this with dd, very interesting to see how her appetite varied.

nappyaddict · 08/10/2008 14:44

my friend's BFC advised her to wean at 22 weeks which i was very at. not sure if it was NCT, LLL or hospital one though.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 08/10/2008 17:34

TinkerBellesMum · 08/10/2008 20:10

Didn't you know that clothes size is the best indicator of internal development?

jop64 · 08/10/2008 21:27

This is another good one if you fancy it!

TinkerBellesMum · 08/10/2008 22:16

I'm so glad it's been so long since I last logged in (last time we had one of these cross overs in fact) that I'm not automatically logged in and can't remember my log in details.

jop64 · 08/10/2008 22:32

Tinkerbellesmum - are you babalooo on bounty then? I'm getting dreadfully confused

TinkerBellesMum · 08/10/2008 22:40

No, I think I have my real name in my name. I can't remember my log in details and haven't tried too hard to remember because I'm not so good as some of the others at posting like that.

There was another cross over thread awhile ago, someone got banned for something and posted on here about it, then people were going there, they were coming here and there was a big row between the two threads.

jop64 · 09/10/2008 08:18

I know - some of the main posters on this thread are awesome! I wouldn't mess with them
