I think she was the one who said she put rice in the bottles.

Hi, I'm also a Bounty user (altho I not down wiv da txt talkin huns! )

I've been pretty horrified about all the weaning threads and the inability for people to understand the fact that guidelines change as research progresses (rather than just to annoy mums!). It's nice to come somewhere where people know and understand the facts.

It's not just the weaning threads that get me, I've also seen a couple recently with titles such as 'when should I stop comforting my crying baby', and 'my 9 week old still wakes in the night'.

I'd be interested to know whether Bounty get back to any of your emails. I'd never considered the link between Bounty and baby food manufacturers before. I can't believe they remove threads with advice regarding waiting to wean but will happily leave threads up with people saying 'I weaned my 2 week old bubs and he's ok' etc etc.

Anyway, just thought I'd pop over here and say 'hello'. Maybe this will become my regular home now (although I think I'll still visit Bounty...some of the views are amusing to say the least!

happycamper10180 · 06/10/2008 18:10

Link to the gurgle thing here. Been out at a new baby group all afternoon. Was both surprised and pleased to overhear a HV telling a mum with a 23 week old baby to hold off weaning - at least there's one out there with some sense!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/10/2008 19:01

Excellent VS.

Welcome bounty ladies.

For all my derision, I do honestly feel sorry for those ladies over there who have been 'conned' into thinking they are doing the right thing. They've been let down by their family, their friends and their health care professionals.

This bizarre mentality that is hammered home that your baby mustnt cry, your baby must sleep at night like adults do, that you mustnt cuddle it too much or you will spoil it is frighteningly insipid in our society and I just dont know where anyone would start to put a halt to it.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/10/2008 19:02

oh that link to gurgle - not only should you start feeding your baby early, apparently hiding your baby's toys will "help it". I'm not entirely sure how this helps.

Downright mean if you ask me

stretchmarkqueen · 06/10/2008 21:52

Oh ha ha. I've been told off by some posters for getting narky!! Sorry to all you that are from bounty, but not like all the 'huns'.
The post was not meant for you. (icarriedawatermelon post) I just got pissed off with the, "you may say now we know better but i dont believe that is the case entirely my kids are fine and so are millions of others being weaned early" Such a massive generalisation.
The guidelines weren't ever 3 months, were they? Not since 50's? Is that right?

VictorianSqualor · 06/10/2008 22:41

I really hope this isn't anything serious.

stretchmarkqueen · 06/10/2008 22:46

oh god, I hope so too. Has she posted on MN?

VictorianSqualor · 06/10/2008 22:52

I'd like to think she will. There will be someone here who can give her the right advice.

VictorianSqualor · 07/10/2008 08:43

What a joke!
I've been banned again.
What for now?

MrsJamin · 07/10/2008 08:45

What did you last say?

VictorianSqualor · 07/10/2008 08:48

I told a woman who was worried about blood in her baby's stools to try MN as she wasn't getting any luck on bounty.
Surely they can't ban over recommending another forum?

AnarchyAunt · 07/10/2008 09:11

They can - tis one of their rules that you may not 'recommend rival websites' or somesuch.

Crazy.

OP posts:
happycamper10180 · 07/10/2008 09:13

Er yes they do, they will take down anything which reccomends another forum. It's another reason they need to be more responsible about getting the right advice out there because they actively prevent their members going anywhere else.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 07/10/2008 09:17

I think I saw a thread like that early this morning. Have you checked childrens health?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 07/10/2008 09:20

Here VS is it this one?

VictorianSqualor · 07/10/2008 09:35

Yeah that's the one. Oh well.
Wonder why they're so scared of their members going to rival sites

(I'm running out of email addresses)

stretchmarkqueen · 07/10/2008 09:37

Are you going to re-register VS??

AnarchyAunt · 07/10/2008 09:38

NetMums has a similar rule iirc.

I think they don't usually care, but if they want rid of you anyway they watch for you to do it. Other posters on Bounty have been linking to this thread - thats why Bounty people have found us! But they have not all been banned.

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 07/10/2008 09:46

Oh yh smq, I'm back already.

WTF is this joker on about?

7/10/08 08:56

kel251984

yeah my dd at 10 weeks could say Agoo and is now at 12 weeks nearly saying hiya x

stretchmarkqueen · 07/10/2008 09:48

Well, ds 'says' ahgoo!! But not hiya! Bet he can count too!

stretchmarkqueen · 07/10/2008 09:53

"Your Bounty.com membership has been revoked for repeated abuse of the user guidelines.

The Bounty.com Team "

Roffle!!

happycamper10180 · 07/10/2008 09:53

Only saying 'hiya'? That's nothing, DS was reading by 16 weeks (I've added a pic as proof). Or maybe it's just the way we interpret their actions!
