Have very sore sides from laughing so much. Took DD to see HV (who is very strict power hungry bully IM(notsovery)HM).

DD still on 98th percentile. HV refrains from rebuking me on this matter since I told her last time that if she didn't stop going on about it I'd make sure we never came to see her again.

She asked about weaning. We explained that we were doing BLW. She'd never heard of it. So we told her it means that DD eats what we eat.

"I'm not sure that will work dear"

"But you puree it surely?"

"Well you must at least mush it?"

"But babies can't eat real food"

"But surely she chokes"

"But, but, but...honestly?"

"Oh FGS I give up"

whomoved - that is wonderful!!!

whomovedmychocolate · 16/05/2007 17:26

She has eaten cat biscuits actually - before we started weaning. She'd gotten to them (goodness knows how) while my back was turned for a second. The worst bit was, the bloody cat was sat there encouraging her!!!!

whomoved...you make me larf !!!

whomovedmychocolate · 16/05/2007 17:28

Ah yes the special 'paper' vitamins Lulumama, my DD knows them well, she practically salivates whenever the postman approaches at the prospect of a good juicy envelope!

Good for you! I feel so sorry for babies ... they usually have to eat such shit

Budababe · 16/05/2007 17:28

Well babies are not humans - we all know that surely?!!!

IveGotAnEffOffBigHouseAnd4by4 · 16/05/2007 17:29

LOL - great story!

lulumama · 16/05/2007 17:29

closely followed by the nutritional source of loveliness that is carpet fluff and dust bunnies!!

toddlers clearly do not have a 'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeew' button

nor do i hoover often enough

DD was tres particular about her source of paper. only newspaper or serviettes , not shiny paper

whomovedmychocolate · 16/05/2007 17:30

Why hoover when you have cats and children to suck up whatever is down there?

How old is DD? She looks like she LOVED that spaghetti!

whomovedmychocolate · 16/05/2007 21:43

Seven months next week. She's been weaning three weeks now.

Wow! I can't wait to start BLW, I am so excited about it. I can't believe she ate that and is not even 7 months old!

whomovedmychocolate · 16/05/2007 21:47

Cazee - believe me, it's like opening a floodgate, they see the food, they want it, they shove it all in - at once normally. It's so exciting for them. We haven't found a food yet she won't eat (and quite a few non-food items are tried too

DD once ate the shopping list on the way round the supermarket - I took the hint and opened a packet of rice cakes for her (she was getting ink all over her face and anyway I needed the blooming list!)

funnypeculiar · 16/05/2007 22:12

fabulous, whomoved... thanks for that

whomovedmychocolate · 16/05/2007 22:14

Makes you wonder what she (the HV) eats:

'Evil cow' food perhaps

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 16/05/2007 22:15

stealthsquiggle - Poppy ate my &More credit card - she has a thing for my handbag and I didn't realise what she was doing - had to ring them rather sheepishly and explain she'd chewed the chip bit so it didn't work anymore.

Ooh I'm so excited! I went shopping today for a ridiculous quantity of fruit & veg in anticipation of BLW-day on Friday (or tomorrow if I just can't wait). Knowing my luck ds will take one look at the carrot batons and mini corn I lovingly steam for him, chuck it all on the floor and continue eating the post .

Aitch, I showed dh your blog after he made sceptical noises about BLW and he's now convinced it's the way to go for ds (being that his baby's so advanced and all...)

nappyaddict · 16/05/2007 22:20

no i meant a link of youtube! i'm not so lazy i can't click on your profile lol.
