I'm not after any debate/argybargy - just curiuos to know what people do.
my dd is 20wks & am not sure whether she is ready for it yet - her weight gain has really slowed down & she's dropeed from teh 75th to under teh 50th percentile so I think she might be.
TIA

Similar to previous posts

ds (now 5) 17 weeks
No p[roblems, just a bit of a faff with all the sieving then whizzing etc. Soon as he turned 6 mo he took to finger food like a duck to water

dd (now 2.9) nearly 7 mo (forgot to start )
Bit of baby rice and apple puree, lots of finger food. Easy peasy. Hurrah for the new guidelines!

Nemoinapeartree · 20/11/2006 12:17

Ds was 12wks on HV recommendation
DD was 24wks and am glad I waited.

wannaBe1974 · 20/11/2006 12:39

15 weeks, and he was ready. was crying cause he was hungry but refusing milk. Gave baby rice and we never looked back. Only gave fruit/veg though until 6 months.

Tbh if I were to have another, I would go with the baby, not the guidelines, as every baby is different, and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another IMO.

lucycat · 20/11/2006 12:40

dunno about 4 months I guess - both dd's were like baby gannets though, couldn't fill 'em up fast enough.

They still eat like horses -

mmm lots of animal refernces going on there

CantWaitForTheSnow · 20/11/2006 12:49

6 months. Didn't start with purees. She refused puree but wolfed down 'real' food. Now she doesn't mind puree or chunky stuff.

madness · 20/11/2006 13:03

ds 6 months (as per WHO and US guidelines)
dd1 6mo
dd2 will prob be 6 mo as well

lucykate · 20/11/2006 14:04

dd was 4mths, advice then was to start at this age, plus i wanted to do it before i went back to work at 5.5mths

ds was 7mths, advice now is 6mths but he showed no interest until 7. i didn't push it with him, just offered it once a week until he looked keen. but i also had the luxury with him of being at home as i took the whole year of on maternity leave

HOW DO YOU REMEMBER

Jimjams2 · 20/11/2006 14:10

pmsl cod I remember when ds1 was a baby I couldn't understand how people couldn't remember this sort of stuff. Now I know that ds1 was weaned at 16 weeks because I did everthing by the book then, but I have no idea abourt the other 2, and giuve the blank loks I used to not understand when people ask me this sort of stuff now. I also have no idea how long I bfed ds3 for, I know ds1 was 13 months, I know ds2 was 2 and a half years, but ds3??? I can't remember if it was 6 weeks, 8 weeks or 4 months. Genuinely haven't a clue!

NomDePlume · 20/11/2006 14:14
