I time travelled today - only for a few hours as an experiment and its ruined my turnips. Didn't blardy think of that, did I?!

I've caught one tarantula, and despite all best attempts to search for them, the only times I've seen them they've caught me unawares and attacked. Little feckers.

I'm on day 4 or 5 now, first new resident moved in today, Able arrived for the first time and I have a bridge!! I've got all the fruit trees planted now so just waiting on the crop to grow. I'm excited to be able to terraform and have some nice organised orchards 😁

Up late playing this. Can't catch a tarantula to save my life - just panic and freeze when I see them and give it to my DP to attempt a catch (he hasn't managed it yet). I think my heart would stop if I found the 'tarantula island'

Where's everyone up to? We've got nooks cranny, the museum, at least five residents and the upgraded resident services/town hall thing. I had upgraded my house once also so far, other half did a glitch cheat and has upgraded many times because he had tons of bells 🙄 we have pears but I got oranges, coconuts and apples from islands as well as bamboo

Also the bell trees you can plant not just 1k but all the money in your pocket and in a few days time it'll give you triple what you planted

Apparently the bell tree is risky. Some trees will never give you more than 30k (so dont plant more than 10). It might be every other tree but I haven't tested that theory.

I think I should get the able sisters today :)

Anyone tried the old send fruit as a present to the other residents trick to get new fruit?

I've just sent all my neighbours apples. Hope they'll send other fruit back.

First reply today, from Iggly. He didn't send any fruit back, or anything at all. In fact, he moaned that my letter wasn't very long. I think he must be a mumsnetter.

Just seen this thread! I am LOVING being able to play on the switch. (DH is less thrilled as he can't play Civilisation)
So far I have the museum, shop and just finished the plots for three new residents. I like visiting new islands but Nook Miles are so flipping expensive, even with the + upgrade.
I have no RL friends to visit so may look up some of you if that's OK? I gave peaches, pears, bamboo and coconuts so far.

I've laid out pears, apples, bamboo, cherries and coconuts outside the plaza in multiple of 5s if anyone wants them.

Nook and Crannys hot item today is Wooden Block Toy and they are buying turnips for 56 bells each (boooo). My native fruit is cherries if you wanted to bring any 'foreign' fruit to sell!

I have found my people! We are obsessed in this house!
Frustratingly visits to other Nook Miles islands always have the same fruit/plants as we already have.
We have coconuts, bamboo, pears, apples. Desperate for peaches, roses and lilies.

My 6yo got a switch for Christmas and has been counting down to AC being released because she was the adverts. I didn't take an interest at first as I didn't play the original game but the past couple of days I've started playing and I'm now obsessed! I've made my own character but can't have my own island which is annoying, because of course a 6 year old has just placed stuff willy nilly so nothing is in order!

We have cherries on our island but have been gifted some peaches and bamboo which I planted yesterday, and I got some pears from visiting another deserted island.

Can someone explain the turnips to me please?

@JimmyPanda The turnips are like stocks. You buy them from Daisy Mae on a Sunday morning for however many bells she is selling, then you need to check in with the two little dudes that run the shop every day and see what their turnip price is, if its higher than you paid, you make a profit! If its lower, try to hold out for the next day. But you only have until Saturday to sell them or they will rot and you'll lose all your money.

Can someone explain the turnips to me please?

On Sunday mornings Daisy Mae will be around. You can buy turnips from her, for around 100 bells each. Then you can sell them in the shop. Unlike other items, the price varies. Timmy won't buy them on Sunday, but starting on Monday, each day will have two prices - morning and afternoon. But if you don't sell them by the next Sunday, they rot and are only good for attracting flies (if you don't have them in the museum).

If I see double prices, I sell mine. I've seen as low as under 50 and as high as 600. If you visit other people, you can sell in their shop.

Fun fact - turnip in Japanese is "kabu". Stock / share is also "kabu". English version puns in by calling it the stalk market.
