Almost just 2 weeks to go!

I’ve just noticed there’s a thread for this! I’m unbelievably excited, it’s like waiting for Christmas to come! I preordered the special edition console, I tried to resist but couldn’t But I’ll sell my regular switch after I’ve transferred my account. So exciting that it’s actually out NEXT WEEK! I remember being gutted last summer when it got delayed, felt like it was so long to wait until March.

Soon it will be less than a week to go! Love the new commercials, especially the Japanese one with the three girls. I can’t wait to be cosy in my nest with AC. My sons are going to play it too so it will be great to share it with them. Not my island though. We will all have our own. We’re not sharers.

My son is also getting it, we're not sharers either I'm jealous he'll be able to play his at midnight, but I'll need to wait until mine arrives on the Friday as the download code will be in the console box! So I'll be watching him play.

I have to wait till I collect mine from Smyths too but my son says he wants to wait till I’ve got mine so we can start together 🥰🥰🥰. My other son will play when he’s back from school. Poor sod. I’m going to order in pizza and get everyone’s fave snacks. Really make an event of it.

Hey everyone! I'm ridiculously excited for AC, been waiting since the announcement back in 2018 and it's one of the main reasons we got a Switch!

That's the main reason I got my own Switch too! My son had one already, but when AC was announced, I knew I'd be needing my own 😂

What preorder bonuses did everyone get? My console comes with a Tom Nook keyring from ShopTo. My son is getting the digital download from Nintendo and his preorder bonus is the set of 3 pin badges. I originally preordered the digital download from Nintendo too and the bonus was a tote bag, but I cancelled that order when I decided to get the special edition console, but I bought the tote bag still.

So jealous you're getting the special edition console!

I ordered off of the eshop and I don't think I've got a bonus actually, it's okay though!

My partner 3D printed me some AC cookie cutters at the weekend, even he is getting in on the hype! He's meeting his friend tonight and I told him I only regret he couldn't have pushed it back a week and a half 😂

What do you think your play style will be? I want to keep the deserted island vibes for a while before I start upgrading my house and things!

I'm not usually very patient with waiting for things, so I'll likely be working to get my house upgraded pretty quickly! The good thing about my son also getting the game is we can trade fruits so they're worth more. When I played New Leaf on the 3DS, I was terrible for time travelling, so I'd pay for my upgrade, then change the date on the console to advance to the next day. I'm quite looking forward to a bit of a slower pace now and not messing with the dates, I want to do it properly.

I'm so excited to see what my map will look like and what my native fruit will be! Hopefully cherries, because I think they look nice 😄

I've ordered a Switch for myself far too late - well, I ordered it on 27th Feb, was meant to be dispatched yesterday .. they've taken the money today (this is Nintendo Store UK) but also emailed to say it's been delayed, argh.

Well, they still have a week to get it over here, plus we do have others in the house, and it is still possible to buy it from resellers on Amazon if need be.

what's everyone thinking for there island name?

I’m not sure what I’m going to call my island! Hard to think of a good name. I did think about naming it Coconut Island, I quite like how it sounds and it’s a little nod to my favourite Mario Kart level on the Wii - Coconut Mall. That’s all I have so far!

I hope your Switch arrives on time @tribpot. I think at the moment you can’t transfer your island to another console so might be worth keeping that in mind if you start on a different switch then want to transfer. Apparently Nintendo are working on something that will be available in the future for backup and transfers.

I was awful for time travelling when I played Wild World, I couldn't ever wait the day for Nook to upgrade!!

Who are you hoping to see return? I'm hoping we can visit Tortimer again!

LittleBear I'm interested to see what Resetti will do this time, since we have autosave now, I imagine it'll be less likely to exit without saving! So I wonder what he'll do now. I would also love to see Tortimer too.

regina I know a lot of people think he runs the rescue service since it sounded like his music in the direct, but that seems like such a small role! Plus who's ever going to really use that? I want him to get really mad again!

Oh yeah, I forgot we heard his music on that rescue bit! Maybe that’s him retired and taking it easy now 😄

I’m so happy we get a say in where the islanders place their houses now! I remember in New Leaf someone placed their house right at the path for the beach and it looked silly, I wasn’t too happy haha. When he moved out, I put a public works clock there to prevent it happening again!

I had ordered a physical copy of the game from Amazon, as I didn't realise you would be able to download it in advance and I figured on release day the servers would be overloaded. (I suspect they still will be, which mean we must all play first thing in the morning, before the US wakes up).

I think I might cancel that order and download a copy instead.

tribpot Be prepared to be taunted by the icon on your screen for the next week! It is pre-downloaded though so servers shouldn't be an issue on release day, if you try to open it early it just won't let you in, but it's there!

Yay that's exciting! Yeah I think digital is better in the long run, as much as I love having the box for the game, I much prefer the convenience of digital as it will always be on the console so won't have to swap out cartridges.

Right, I'm going to hook up the Switch today and I'm wondering what game people would recommend in the meantime. I've looked at some 'best of' lists but they tend to be for shoot 'em up type games that I wouldn't like. I'm tempted to go for the old favourite Lego Harry Potter.

I really like Farm Together and Two Point Hospital at the moment.

I've always been a nintendo girl but tbh switch games haven't been that great so far(maybe cause I bought an xbox now too tho so have been playing that mostly).

I love Fire Emblem though. Probably because the characters are cute and you can marry one in the end lol. Love games like that.

I usually name my town something to do with the stars but seen as this one will be an island...I was thinking of something to do with rum. Like malibu lol.
