I got it yesterday. Never played before so just wandering aimlessly around the island lol

WhatDoIDoo Switch stock has been very low for ages, I think possibly partly in anticipation of this game. I got mine from the Nintendo Store last week (on back order) but they're sold out again - no doubt now because of the pandemic keeping everyone at home.

It looks as if Amazon have some available at a premium at the moment.

Digital if you keep going to chat to Tom Nook and Timmy, they will tell you what you need to do to progress the game.

I feel like I've spent most of the day weeding today! But the quality of the graphics is outstanding - watch a butterfly fly over water, it's amazing.

DD was thrilled with her little Limited Edition Switch gift in the game. Nice touch!

That is a really nice touch, BonnesVacances. I've got a regular Switch in my tent, haven't yet found out if I can play Animal Crossing on it

I've been playing since last night. I love the way the world looks and feels!

Heads up for those planning on sharing the game, its one island per switch not player. The player that makes the island kind of becomes the main player. Subsequent players will have to play the same island and are limited in what they can do

I’ve been playing it non-stop with my sons. I love this game more than any game ever. It’s amazing. It looks so nice on my tv as well as handheld. So many nice touches. At the moment I’m visiting random islands. Having so much fun. 😀😀😀

My DD and I are loving it. I'm playing on a regular switch and she has a lite. It's a great timesink!

I have no idea what I'm doing. I've seen weeded and got all the peaches, done some fishing caught some fish and paid my tent off now I'm just wondering around

There isn't masses to do on each day Elf but you should now have some missions to do in your Nook Miles+ app. Have you been catching bugs and fish and taking them to Tom Nook? You need to do that to advance the game.

Have you donated creatures to Tom Nook?

Look near rocks, there are often stones. You can also hit the rocks with an axe. Do not eat fruit first as you will break the rock and only one will regenerate each day. Save all iron nuggets as you will soon need 30

Yes, you can pick up a stone for the axe near most of the rocks, you don't need a shovel to get them.

Has anyone leaped across the stream yet?

Yes, Blathers will give you the recipe for a vaulting pole. I'm now eagerly awaiting ladders :)

We haven't got a pole - DS figured out a way to jump across!

Ah very good - the character can jump but I assumed could not cross a river that way! Also looking forward to ladders - not to mention bridges as I am quite tired of pole vaulting over rivers!

Groan - I've made a big error and I've been hitting the rocks whilst hopped up on fruit (giving me super strength). I didn't realise you weren't meant to do this, and now I've destroyed the rocks I need to give me things for the game. Sigh. They 'grow' back but slowly.

Use your nook miles to buy a plane ticket and go to another island. I went to an island that had 6!

I have Winter - it's cost me a blardy fortune as I haven't found an island with more than 3. Got there in the end, though! Gutted that I have missed 'the new Joan' this weekend, will be on the lookout for her next Sunday.
