Help me with an explanation for this - possible ghost?

My (extremely rational usually) friend has recently moved into a flat where objects have started being moved around when she is out.
The last thing that happened was two LED lights clicking on simultaneously, two of those letters with lights in them, that have batteries and aren't linked to each other or the electrics. Her son and her witnessed it.
I want there to be a rational explanation for this but can't think of one. She is now convinced and is getting a priest in.
Can anyone think of anything rational/scientific?

You could put them on the thread then request them to be moved tomorrow or add them to your profile (but let us know!) I'm intrigued. I've always been nervous whenever I've moved into a new home in case there's problems like this. Would freak me right out.

Our family got a spiritual healer in. Things were kicking off because the last sibling wouldn't move on without Christine who had been to afraid to move on and was 'stuck'.

Thanks for the helpful posts. When I started the thread I was deeply sceptical (used to be 'woo' when younger but am now a lawyer FFS!) and trying to work out rational explanations for everything. Since the moving of one or two items in each room (except her sons room - who is currently not wanting to stay much as he has been freaked out) throughout the house from front to back, my friend got a security camera and lock fitted on the side gate (flat is accessed from side of house) as she suspected the former owner - who was apparently odd. Then there was the lights coming on (read back - 2 separate battery operated lights. Her son saw that and was frightened but she pretended it was nothing.
She also experienced feeling/hearing someone in the bedroom with her drumming their fingers impatiently. (Whilst awake - I queried if it was a half dream).
Since then she has come home to find her bed had been sat on - I will post a pic when I can of that and also of when the lights cane on as she said there were unexplained shadows/light sources in that pic.
She is an extremely logical person normally and would not have believed someone else but is scared and not sleeping properly (very unlike her). She spoke to work colleagues who she had no idea were religious (she isn't) and they requested the priest who came around the day of the bed incident (Thursday) and blessed the house/flat (ground floor of a Victorian house converted into flats).
I'm hoping things improve now but will update. Will post pics to my profile tomorrow.

Can ghosts harm people or just scare them??

I think more the latter.

They are "spirits" you can have good and bad, I don't think the "good" want to harm or scare they more want to get your attention, however if they are "bad" they most likely want to scare and I think it could be possible for them to harm- they would be called poltergeist though, poltergeists make loud noises, move objects and can cause physical disturbances.

If your friend is feeling a bad vibe I'd be worried for her too! These spirits can change your mood, disrupt sleep and have negative impact on mental health.

I'm no expert by all means, but I do have an interest in this topic. I really hope things get better for her.

She hasn't felt a bad vibe as such, is just freaked out, but has said she would rather it be a ghost than an intruder.
My friend has never had problems sleeping before though in the 15 years I've known her, despite all kinds of stress, so I do fear for her mental health.

The only thing unexplained on this thread is whether or not the priest has a City & Guilds in Electrical Installation.

I thought it was a house but now it's a flat in a converted house?

Sorry if I missed about changing locks but other flat holders could have a key to her flat from past neighbours such as watering pot plants or feeding pets whilst owner on holiday.

I have a key for a neighbour as I feed their cats regularly as they go away a lot. I've made a copy in case I lost it which although unlikely, is possible.

If they move house it's possible I might forget to give them the key. Not that I would do anything untoward but your friends neighbours might be up to no good.

Okay i know this is realllly old but just reading through the spooky posts & wondered if there was any update on what happened afterwards (If the OP still happens to be on MN & gets a thread notification haha)

I'm back! I've been using different name. Don't know why I got so upset - I guess because I was so worried about my friend and people weren't properly reading what I was saying and just making silly jokes.
Thanks to those showing a genuine interest.
Anyway, the priest came and did the blessing and everything went back to normal afterwards. He said it wasn't a bad' ghost but there was definitely something there. However, she has had a lot of bad luck in the flat and I feel that ghost or no ghost she should move out/sell it/rent it out, because if issues around location and security and the bad luck she has had there rather than the ghost.
Recently she awoke in the night with the sense that someone had tweaked her nose! Hopefully that was just a dream.
