Time for another spooky stories thread?

I know how much I enjoyed reading previous scary story threads so thought I'd start another and start with my own.

Now I always thought I had imagined this but after meeting up with my sister last week and getting on to this found out she remembers this too.

We both had a friend in the village who lived in a long house with an old barn out back, looked fairly normal had a ladder in the middle which took you up to the top level and the roof had a roof light window in it. Anyway this friend told us it was haunted and we thought she was having us on until she knocked on the door and an almighty bang answered, this kept happening. Then once it had stopped stuff started flying out of the roof window! Old sacks and old stove kettles etc! We were so scared but went in and no one was in there just totally empty. We then went in the house and said to friends mum and she said it must have been her dad but her dad was in the living room!

Needless to say I've never forgotten this and my sister obviously hasn't either.

So now I've started anyone else want to add any??

Yes I do. I don't feel its the baby though. (Spirit one) as I've had other babies in this house! DS1 was 14 months when we moved in, DD was born not long ago and nothing, and now DS2 is here and he's been here a while before anything happened.

But thinking about it, it could be connected to DS1...
He suffers night terrors. Whenever he has been going through a phase of them, the baby cries more often. He's been having night terrors again and sleepwalking, so maybe it's connected to him?! Shock

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/10/2015 11:05

And its quiet when he's out of the house, sleeping at my mums etc...

Fuck.

ScreamingNotWaving · 02/10/2015 11:19

I talked to DD about what she sees and she said that she's always seen us and that it's just us. For a long time she thought it was the real us and we were ignoring her! She thinks and I agree that it's like the house has recorded us! She said it has never scared her. I wonder what we should tell the estate agent if we ever get round to selling!

MissMarpleCat · 02/10/2015 11:20

Negative energy??
As a believer of such things, we know that lots of woo is connected to/channelled through children.
Do you know anyone who can connect with the spirit world who can cleanse your home?
Sorry to derail your thread op.
Can any other posters help Fatty?

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/10/2015 11:23

No. But I might try and ask my grandmother to help. (She's dead has been since before I was born) she has come before when I've needed comfort. And obviously I believe there's something after death, so maybe a sort of prayer will help

tomatodizzy · 02/10/2015 11:25

Poor you Fatty. My middle boy suffers from night terrors and seems more sensitive than the other children. He cannot go anywhere in the house by himself. He always takes one of the dogs if he can't find a person to go with him. I'm pretty sure our house is not haunted, it is only 1 year old and built on an old farm land. Although one of the builders did find a native arrow head and a lady from town said that the whole town is built on a native Indian sacred site. There must have been thousands of those and they all seemed to crop up after the film Poltergeist.

Hotpatootietimewarp nothing happened in my mums house after the lodger moved out. Other lodgers came and went and we always stay there when we visit. There's one bit I forgot to mention. I had a dog and two cats at the time we had the lodger. One day I was in the sun room connected to the kitchen and the dog started barking at the wall and then ran to the bottom of the stairs. She was going mental (usually a calm dog) one cat was sitting on the sofa and he looked up, looked alarmed and started following the stairs with his eyes. It was like they both saw something. Another time I was drawing the stairs for a school art project, I saw a shadow move across the top of the stairs. Both things happened while the lodger was there. My mother still lives in the house, I lived in the house from the age of 9. Nothing happened when I was a child and nothing has happened since. It's a very calm house.

MissMarpleCat · 02/10/2015 11:35

Screaming that sound like a time slip(?), I've heard of similar on other woo threads.

Fatty I hope your grandmother can help you, and also that you can get some sleep.

Hotpatootietimewarp · 02/10/2015 12:18

Nope don't think I'd sit in that chair either!

Just wanted to say how much I have loved reading this thread. I've got a couple of pages to catch up on, saving them for DD bedtime (not to read to her, don't worry) as I pat her to sleep. I read them in the dark and freak myself out that I'll start hearing whispers down the baby monitor. Thanks everyone for sharing.

99percentchocolate · 02/10/2015 12:32

Fatty - hope your grandmother can help and that it all calms down soon. It could also could also be that it is on your mind anyway and so you are more likely to jump to that as the conclusion if you see what I mean? For example, I was telling some of the mums in the playground about my disappearing boy yesterday and as I was talking about it, a stone flew across the playground and hit me on the stomach. The four women I was talking to really freaked out and started talking about the ghost boy trying to get my attention until a dad nearby piped up that he had seen a bird drop it. Complete coincidence.
Sorry, not trying to dismiss your concerns, just trying to think up a logical reason that may put your mind at rest.
My phone has gone a bit haywire at times too - do you have an iPhone? What was it typing out?

When I was a young child I often saw people in my room at night. Some were scary and would rush up to me at lightning speed with their faces milimetres away from mine so I could see every detail. I was always scared to go to the bathroom as a knight used to stand behind the bathroom door and I could see his long pointy toes underneath the door! I possibly had a vivid imagination but it certainly seemed very real.

When I was six my grandmother died. I would come home after school every day and sit on the sofa with a glass of milk and feel the top of my head being lovingly stroked. After a couple of years I realised that this was what my grandmother used to do and I was suddenly scared. It stopped and never happened again.

Years later when my grandfather we would often smell his pipe before a big family event, I also woke up on the morning of his passing at the same time and saw the most beautiful lights, I heard my grandad say that we would get that house (we were in the process of moving). I asked which house and he showed me a vision of a house we had ruled out as we couldn't afford it. A few weeks later we had an offer accepted on it.

When my other grandfather died I also saw him stood in my bedroom doorway.

More recently we stayed in a remote Scottish cottage that definitely felt as if someone else was there. We would hear footsteps on the stairs at night and every morning all the objects on the living room mantelpiece were pushed to one side. We assumed that the mantelpiece was unlevel and things were sliding across over time. One night I stayed up late alone and decided to test our theory by placing a pen in the centre of the mantelpiece. I kept glancing up from the book I was reading and nothing was happening and then the next time I looked the large clock that had been in the centre of the mantelpiece had moved to the very end; only it had 'jumped over'the pen and two other ornaments. At this point I decided to go to bed!

When we left I signed the visitor book, only to find comments about the organ that was in the cottage starting to play in the middle of the night!

Another time we stayed in a hotel which had featured on most haunted. We were going out of our room when my husband started saying what rubbish it all was when the door we had just come through banged shut, we felt the air go very cold and my husband was unable to move the other partially open door at all. After a few moments it stopped and the door flung shut. He was pretty shaken afterwards. My daughter and I were both woken by a woman standing at the foot of the bed one night.

We both also saw a dark shadow when visiting a local Abbey.

I'm home. Have spent as much time out if the house as possible. To whoever was asking (I can't remember your name sorry)
I don't have an iPhone, I have a Motorola. The sentences were just random words, they didn't make any sense. If they had made sense it would have properly freaked me and I probably wouldn't have a phone as I'd have thrown it! I've told my DP he needs to come and spend the night tonight and look after me. Confused

MissMarpleCat · 02/10/2015 16:46

Glad to hear you won't be alone tonight Fatty.

JuliaD712 · 02/10/2015 17:16

I saw this on facebook and have made an account now (Finally) to share my story.
In seriousness this is horrid so if you get scared easily dont read it.
When I was younger I sometimes went and stayed with my aunt who lived about a 3 hour drive away.
She lived in a little bungalow right next door to a church and graveyeard and there was always a little girl in the garden without a doubt (completely irrelvant to the story may I add). Anyway my aunt was really religious so loved living there and she had 3 kids all moved then as they were much older than me.
Anyway I was always close to my female cousin who was 25 years older than me. I was 12 when i was staying this particular night so she was 37. I could hear her muttering away in the kitchen to my aunt and then she started crying.
This is when it all started. So moving on quite a few more years, I was 16 and went down to visit my cousin she had moved to a new house and wanted a hand so me and my mum went up to help. Me and my cousin were outside having a fag and she was telling me about her old house. She had a miscarriage wholst living there and felt she needed to move away (she was 24 weeks pregnant when she miscarried).
Anyway (im rambling sorry its such a long story). So she moved to her new house and things to started to freak her out. Things moving, doors slamming, windows opening etc. It got worse and worse and me and mum would often have to go up and visit her so we witnessed these happenings.
One day my aunt rang me mum and she explained that she thought my cousin was going insane as she was insisting 'ghosts were writting on her walls'.
This time I stayed at home, my mum drove to meet me aunt and they went to my cousins together. My cousins husband opened the door and my cousin was sat in the corner rocking. He his notepad out and began showing them things he had wrote and said every morning there is a new message wrote on there bedroom wall and no matter how much they scrub it wont come off but will change to something else overnight. He then continued the one last night pushed my cousin over the edge. It was a message saying 'he is ours now' with her 20 week scan photos on the wall. My aunt called her vicar from the church next to house to my cousins house to sprinkle holy water etc (like i said she was very religious).
Sorry its such a long story and I need to cook dinner but basicially the night after her phone started playing her miscarried babies heart beat (recording from 16 week scan) it got worse and worse and was all focused on her miscarried baby boy.

It never stopped and she was litereally going insane (suicidal, withdrawn etc) but didnt move and the vicar warned it could follow her. Eventually she feel pregnant again and it did stop, completely!!!
They moved in the hope that whatever was there would not follow them and it didnt . She finally gave birth (this was only 6 months ago) to a baby boy completely healthy etc and went home a few days after only to find all the stuff from her mscarried baby boy laid out all over her bed (only a few pieces of clothes, memory book etc). But that was the last thing to happen.

She now likes to think that she rescued her miscarried baby boy from these evil spirits or whatever they were and concieved him again and they could no longer taunt her and she had him back.

I could go into a lot more detail but I would be here all day but it was a horrific time and I am glad it has all come to an end. Xx

JuliaD712 · 02/10/2015 17:20

Sorry few typos in there and I mean 16 week mw appointment. It was a voice recording not like a video recording of hearbeat xx

JuliaD712 · 02/10/2015 17:36

Sorry again missed a few things. My mum stayed in a local hotel overnight (too scared to stay there) and saw the written messages herself. But the reason my cousins husband wrote them down is because if you took a picture you could never see it x

ScreamingNotWaving · 02/10/2015 18:22

Oooh, off to investigate time slips now!
