You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

@HobnobbingAboutHobnobs I literally bought a new fat dress at the beginning of Easter. Put it on this morning and doesn't bloody fit!

I know they say you put on a stone in your PGCE year but this is ridiculous!

Have the wine and order a bigger dress🙂

BabyYoda9 · 21/04/2021 18:07

@HerdyGerdy

What on earth is going on at the moment? Huge pressure being put on us to do and mark everything and ignoring the insane burden of the not exam exams for Yr11 and now students are just constantly being ridiculously bloody rude. Fed up with being spoken to like this (by both HoD, SLT and the students) 🙄.
OMG this. A thousand times this. It is genuinely affecting my sleep now because I am so worried about the fact I am trying my hardest to plan revision sessions for the assessments and they do not care!!

I didn’t plan much for the revision lesson today with Year 11. For once they actually worked.

Partner has finally got a vaccine appt. He's under 45, has asthma and ulcerative colitis, but for some reason hasn't been on any lists for a vaccine - then the GP finally called today. He's been the one we've been concerned about all along, not me. Makes me much more comfortable about being in school.

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2021 18:25

Interesting, piggy, someone really should have told that young PE teacher that publicly starting a petition to get your head sacked as a racist probably isn’t the right way to go about things though.

I’m not clear why he thinks the head is racist either.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2021 18:29

No goodness : I am not sure unfair dismissal hearings aren't very compromised by all this.

Clearly as he is at school he must know why head is racist (or more correctly that his policies are). I can't find any of the policies online...

It is really bugging me why I have investigated this head before.

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/04/2021 18:44

I recognised the name so have just been googling but couldn’t find anything either.

Glad re your DP rule!

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 21/04/2021 18:44

Hi everyone, I had a lovely low social media happy holiday seeing family and friends outside.

Back now. School. Arrgh! Children are not well rested; they are feral, unfocused and so so so needy. Going to hide in the paper cupboard with ALL THE GIN!

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/04/2021 18:45

If even I recognise it he must have come up on here, it’s not like I do edutwitter or anything?

ChloeDecker · 21/04/2021 18:51

You can remind me of that next time I moan.

I absolutely, positively, definitely will not MsA!!!
We’re all facing challenges that are not what we are used to. Moan away!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 21/04/2021 19:02

Children are not well rested; they are feral, unfocused and so so so needy.

Do you think that this is a national issue? And, how long do we reckon it'll take to get them back? We can't have another year impacted by covid, it's exhausting.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/04/2021 19:05

Oh, I fully intended to moan anyway Chloe. Wink

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2021 19:10

Someone in Efutwitter ( see what I did there??) called kids feral yesterday and , oh my, Paul Garvey took such exception.

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 21/04/2021 19:11

@namechangedyetagain return has been started and wine is in the fridge! I think I'm going to give up on the whole weight loss thing for a while, all it does is stress me out! And with what feels like near constant year 11 assessment at the moment, that's really not what I need!

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2021 19:19

Paul Garvey confuses me as he attempts to project a professional imagine supporting NQTs etc and then is also a total troll from the same account.

noblegiraffe · 21/04/2021 19:22

Image not imagine.

Our assessments haven’t started yet, it feels very much the calm before the storm.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2021 19:22

Yes he has a v odd Twitter presence.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/04/2021 19:22

hobnob and name I'm giving up on trying to lose weight as well for the minute. When I get stressed I eat, I know it's not healthy (and even less healthy now I'm diabetic) but I don't have time for the healthy stress relievers like exercise or meditation. If I had time for those I wouldn't be so stressed, as evidenced by my much healthier eating habits in the holidays.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 21/04/2021 19:27

Garvey is VILE. I really don't like him. His NQT support comes across as creepy once you see his trolling.

I've given up on exercise. I need it but time isn't available right now. It will be soon.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 21/04/2021 19:28

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot I wonder what it is like in the 'nice' primary schools this year. I have only worked in trisky bits of inner cities. It is so hard this year and this can be compounded when SLT make interesting decisions.

MsAwesomeDragon · 21/04/2021 19:33

noble ours haven't started yet either really, but my nurture group need to get through the last few bits of their entry level before we start the GCSE assessments. So that's the stuff I'm trying to organise and sort this week, deciding who's got which tests left to do (because they're all bloody absent so often).

And I'm writing year 13 reports this weekend. Then next week is year 10 exam week, and year 12 have a test so I can write their reports. Then we start our A Level assessments the week after that, and then we're into the GCSE assessments. I was pinning my hopes onto marking in the lessons where they're actually doing the assessments, but now there's one in each class who needs a reader/scribe (my nurture group always had these needs, but now there are broken bones in the other classes) so I'll have to be doing that for them at the same time as invigilating the rest of the class. So not even a breather while they're doing tests in silence.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/04/2021 19:38

I was at the gym at 7.30am. No exam classes so I’ll take one for the team ds our collective exercise.

So far today we’ve done 11,000 steps, done 24 flights of stairs and burned 2300 calories.

You’re welcome

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 21/04/2021 19:43

Thanks honey. name , MrsAD and I will all wave vigorously at you to get our step counts up 😁

JanFebAnyMonth · 21/04/2021 20:16

Very noble (!) honey, will you be sharing the weight loss with the rest of us ....

I am seriously running out of clothes that fit for work. Sad

eitak22 · 21/04/2021 20:27

I've put on so much weight too! Have started couch to 5k, my legs hurt so much!

Dress up day today went well, just an observation to get through tomorrow.
