You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

Can I also say we never got to ‘see’ Boyzone. We stood for hours in front of their hotel and never saw them. I didn’t get the Diamond White either.

We aren’t friends anymore.

GuyFawkesDay · 11/04/2021 16:04

Definitely skiving where I was from too.

I started doing some work.
One hour later and I'm on the park with the kids....& It's snowing 😩hey ho.

I’m sure I’ve posted this before but why not...

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 11/04/2021 16:07

Another dialect differentiator. What do you call the ‘truce-term’ when playing a chase-game? For me, the term is ‘veinites’ and the game is ‘Had’ but where I live now it’s ‘bagsie’ and ‘Tag’.

borntobequiet · 11/04/2021 16:07

Oops seems you have to register now.

TheHoneyBadger · 11/04/2021 16:08

Torrential hail now Jan - obviously the last lot was just a precursor. Wonder if it's enough to bring ds home? Probably not.

Also in denial Piggy. And have just ordered takeaway and two cans of lager with it. Last day of holidays treat/diet sabotage.

Tick
motherrunner · 11/04/2021 16:09

And you have ‘den’ for a safe space.

motherrunner · 11/04/2021 16:11

We awoke to snow and minus temps. I’m now in a t-shirt. Got another week off so cooking a roast and cracking open a Pinot.

TheHoneyBadger · 11/04/2021 16:12

Tag and I think home base or just 'safe'.

Saucery · 11/04/2021 16:15

Tig and Den here. “No, you DIDN’T Tig me, I was On Den!”

DH had Flixies and Feinites down south.

motherrunner · 11/04/2021 16:15

Even now my DC play ‘tick’ and have ‘den’.

motherrunner · 11/04/2021 16:17

The ‘den’ arguments! Bloody ‘den’ changes all the time.

motherrunner · 11/04/2021 16:18

@Saucery Where are you from?

TheHoneyBadger · 11/04/2021 16:18

Lots of variations of tag though and of what's safe or not. Off the ground is one I remember.

Saucery · 11/04/2021 16:19

Got another week off. Socialising Puppy time! She is doing very well, we think she will make a fine dog when grown. Everything blows her mind, everything is like WOW! people are all lovely and interesting, other dogs are all great.......may she go through life never thinking differently Grin

I could murder a gin, but it wouldn’t mix well with 2am Wee Get Up (puppy’s not mine) and I’m avoiding it for a month after my vaccination anyway because my immune system is a weird sodding thing. Disclaimer: this is a personal decision , the Science behind it is iffy and it’s based on me catching everything going at certain times of my menstrual cycle.

Saucery · 11/04/2021 16:20

Lancashire/Greater Manchester, motherrunner.

motherrunner · 11/04/2021 16:23

@Saucery We’re like a hundred miles a way but have familiar sayings!

Anyone remember ‘kick the can’? Not sure if that’s a generational game or regional.

Cracklefraggle · 11/04/2021 16:56

A treat in my house was a dripping butty. Any ideas?

Cracklefraggle · 11/04/2021 16:58

Ooh mother you've made me remember kerby.

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/04/2021 16:58

I've still got another week off, which I am very happy about. Dd2 went to her friend's birthday party this afternoon (3 friends in their garden) and came back frozen!!! It was sunny when I dropped her off then they had hail, sun, snow and wind in the 2 hours they were there. There were umbrellas and blankets aplenty so they didn't need to go inside, but they were very cold❄️🌨️

CarrieBlue · 11/04/2021 17:00

Truanting is jigging here, I had no idea what the kids were on about when I moved north

Saucery · 11/04/2021 17:01

Dripping, the fat off a roast joint. Also the best thing to fry chips in.
Cracklefraggle · 11/04/2021 17:05

Yup, we used to take the fat off then have the meaty 'jam' on bread.
