You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

We had an excellent email thread where a staff member invited the whole of a year group to an online lesson. The replies made me laugh for days. Aside from that, reply all is usually done in error by older members of staff.

Yup can confirm weather’s horrid although it did ‘sun’ for about five mins earlier....

(piggy and honey I think you two are pretty near each other......)

HarrietDVane · 10/04/2021 17:37

So cold and drizzly here today - I had plans to do garden things but instead I've shivered pathetically on the sofa all afternoon.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/04/2021 17:41

I think I'm about equidistant to both you (Jan) and Piggy. It is odd not knowing what region you live in. It amuses me that you can go through so many different welcome to x county signs on a relatively short drive along the motorway. I'm incapable of pointing at which bit is my county on a map - it's the higgeldy piggledy bit in the middle.

No tips for pork then?

JanFebAnyMonth · 10/04/2021 17:51

I love pork but never get to cook it as both DC went veggie several years ago. Quite expert on Quorn......

Jan triangulating everyone’s position for her DfE notebook 👀

Mistressinthetulips · 10/04/2021 18:20

Sunny enough today for me to fall asleep in a chair in the garden... never wanting to go back to work I think.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 10/04/2021 18:24

Sunny in this corner of the SW.

We don't really get reply alls at work and only the department admin can send an e-mail to everyone.

On of my managers is an absolute PITA for never hitting reply all though. Spend far more time than I need to forwarding the replies to e-mails to all the people I sent the original e-mail to who can see the question, but can't see the answer.

RandomGrammarPun · 10/04/2021 18:40

All staff emails don't bother me too much (though some could be less lazy and look up "teachers of"...) but reply all offenders really get my goat.

DreamingofBrie · 10/04/2021 18:51

I'm in Greater Manchester area and had snow this morning but then lovely sunshine this afternoon-madness!

@PumpkinPie2016, I managed to get a wall at Dunham Massey today - the hail started as we were in the car on the way home! Never been before, and it was lovely to just walk through the park and beautiful gardens for a couple of hours Smile.

GuyFawkesDay · 10/04/2021 18:58

I'm blaming you all entirely for my purchase of rhubarb and pears to make a crumble 😂

I have NEVER even been tempted to get involved with DofE. So couldn’t ring R4 this morning with any related stories of jolly japes/life-changing moments, how sad not. Interesting to learn that the late Stephen Lawrence's brother is a teacher though.
MrsHamlet · 10/04/2021 19:00

I've just been munching the rhubarb raw so there won't be any crumble for me. Can I come and have some of yours, please Guy?

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/04/2021 19:05

I'm relatively close to MrsH, and close ish to anyone in the North East. It's been sunny today, so I've done more gardening. It still doesn't look like I've done much, and it's only one border!!! I could never cope with a whole proper garden. Tomorrow I'm getting the pressure washer out, then I'll put the edging on the border to make it more of a raised bed.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 10/04/2021 19:07

I think I'm nearish to mother and anyone else midlandsy.

I've had plants to put in pots sat in the garden for 5 days. I am no Charlie Dimmock.

MrsHamlet · 10/04/2021 19:15

I love gardens but I hate weeding. I'm desperate for things to grow to crowd out the weeds. I had to buy lots of very tiny plants because proper sized ones were too expensive - so everything is taking ages to grow.

JanFebAnyMonth · 10/04/2021 19:16

herc, by midlandsy you mean West Mids, don’t you? Have you got anlocal accent? After the reframing we all had to do re piggy’s “voice”, I need to know others’. I love accents.

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/04/2021 19:18

Jan my accent is "Northern". It's like a very mild Geordie mixed with Cumbrian, with a hint of Kent as a nod to my mum's accent. Pretty soft, and most people find it difficult to place closer than just "Northern"

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 10/04/2021 19:19

Jan West Mids and most definitely have an accent. Not black country, not totally brummie either, more an odd mix of brummie/country bumpkin and a northern twang as spent 7+ years living in the North West.

MrsHamlet · 10/04/2021 19:20

I sound posh, apparently. By that, people mean that I have a southern accent.
I've lived in the north since 1996 though so I have weird vowel sounds. I do a mean West Country accent though. Thanks mum :)

MrsHamlet · 10/04/2021 19:22

The West Cumbrian accent is mad. I'd love to study it. Actually, I'd love a student to do I don't have to.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 10/04/2021 19:48

I've got a wiltshire/Gloucester accent, especially when pissed. We just decided to got ahead with a 'parents of child's bet friend' drinks thing, but took mulled wine in a big flask. I had 3, most booze since Xmas, so am pissed. I'm afraid we sat in their house though - conservatory with all doors open, coats and hats on.

MrsHamlet · 10/04/2021 19:49

My Gloucester comes out a lot when drunk.

Mistressinthetulips · 10/04/2021 19:50

Well I've scunnered the weather here by saying it was good, has now been snowing for the past half hour. Have just brought in a teeny tree I bought today to keep it warm Blush

JanFebAnyMonth · 10/04/2021 19:58

Off to google/YouTube west Cumbrian accent... never heard of it (can you tell I’m southern?!)
