You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Def don’t do it, Honey, especially with a 9pm summons the night before.

Text in the morning ‘sorry I’m not in till x, can we meet at y?’

Part timers need to set boundaries.

PumpkinPie2016 · 04/01/2021 05:58

Morning comrades Smile

I'm up, getting ready. I have not missed getting up at 5.45am Confused

Honey definitely set your boundaries!

I hope everyone's day goes as well as possible today! I've already had a student email me to ask what time the lesson starts at, erm... the usual time Confused it could be a long week!

SoFranCisco · 04/01/2021 06:00

Morning all - good luck to those of us back in the classroom today 🤞despite the anxiety, I am looking forward to seeing my little gang - planning on using any free minutes to figure out what I might need at home in case it all changes again by tomorrow - what a total mess! My class all have EHCPs but all the parents chose to keep them home in the first lockdown, then we had all but 2 back in June. We have already had emails from parents who kids health conditions put them at higher risk, they are rightly worried about sending them back so be interesting to see how many we have in today. I see a return to home delivering Velcro book resources and making videos like a kids tv presenter cropping up in my near future!

MrsDanvers123 · 04/01/2021 06:03
@MrsDanvers123 your post has just made me sneak downstairs for a Baileys 😂
I shouldn't have had the second Bailey's - I've been awake since 3 because, I suppose, I am over excited for the return to school Hmm

MrsDanvers123 · 04/01/2021 06:05

Good luck everybody - especially to our primary comrades.

SaltyAF · 04/01/2021 06:07

Ugh. I hate early starts.

I'm resolved to be firm if my DC's school shuts. I won't be moving heaven and earth to try to be there as I did before the holiday. I will be WfH.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 04/01/2021 06:08

Morning all.

Primary colleagues we are all with you.

HarrietDVane · 04/01/2021 06:19

Good morning and good luck all!

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 06:24

Good luck primary colleagues, EYFS,SEN and AP if you are going in. Thinking of you. I hope your classes are thinned out by parents keeping them off.

Unbelievable that he hasn't called for a lockdown/tier 5 whatever you want to call it.

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 06:25

@MrsDanvers123 I was awake till 2 after the Baileys😂

Saucery · 04/01/2021 06:35

Ugh, is it that time already?
De-icer for car, bucket of coffee for me.

Good luck to everyone in today and also those teaching from home with all the challenges that holds x

phlebasconsidered · 04/01/2021 06:40

Fuck. See you later everyone.

Iamnotthe1 · 04/01/2021 06:42

Part of me forgot how dark it was when leaving at 6 Sad

Trains are still busy - FFS.

SaltyAF · 04/01/2021 06:48

Off I go to spend the day on a classroom with 10 adults. Shame I couldn't see my family over Christmas when I was safest Hmm

VladimirCutiePutiPie · 04/01/2021 06:56

Let the games commence. Best of luck everyone.

Ulelia · 04/01/2021 07:03

Good luck to everyone returning to work today and stay safe to those returning to the workplace.

@TheHoneyBadger stay away from that meeting! Your boundaries need setting and, whilst being flexible and helpful is great and all, it needs to be on your terms. A 9pm text is not on your terms!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 04/01/2021 07:04

I'm looking forward to a heavy day at the photocopier! Papercuts a go-go.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/01/2021 07:13

Yuk. 5 hours sleep. On the plus side ds is up because he's been awake since 3 so no wrestling with a determinedly unconscious teenager.

Good luck everyone. Keep your distance and wear a mask for in person inset. Crazy schools!

cornercupboard · 04/01/2021 07:14

Good luck everyone.
Main road near me is heaving with traffic. Completely different to yesterday and the past 2 weeks - what could that be?
I am in for Zoom inset and doing TA stuff which I could quite easily do from home. Psycho gaslighty twat head will no doubt do the usual head tilt if I suggest this.
Gah.

MrsDanvers123 · 04/01/2021 07:15

Monkeytennis97 I'm pleased I had a fellow sufferer. I used to be able to drink bottles of the stuff Confused

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2021 07:17

I have last day of holiday today but am up and sat watching everyone on the estate piling out to work. One of the worst tier 4 areas outside London.

It doesn't look terribly to me like people's lives are being very curtailed round here!

RigaBalsam · 04/01/2021 07:19

So sleepy! Good Luck all.

Cracklefraggle · 04/01/2021 07:22

Quite a few primary closed here today due to section 44. DDs school open but we are not sending her in. Virtual support to all primary colleagues whether in or out today Flowers

NeurotreeWenceslas · 04/01/2021 07:24

Morning all! Good luck!

Seems there's a lot of schools closed locally.

Not mine or ds's. Feels like the calm before the storm.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 04/01/2021 07:25

I predict tier 5 by the end of the day.
