You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Yup. I'm ignoring the fact that 47,000 for 30/12 is way too high at this point.

Getting Covid cases to nearly double in 24 hours might actually be world beating. So we can add that to breeding new strains.

Re: the NEU/NAHT stuff. Do we think the government might be more likely to close schools if they think they can blame it on the unions? I know it isn't quite what they are asking for but it would allow the government a u-turn without taking the blame.

I woke up at 3am this morning and the dog that I had let on my bed "for five minutes" had taken full advantage of my nodding off to annexe 80% of it. He was snoring.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/01/2021 16:36

We (ds and I) have a massive soft spot for black labs due to having one as our first dog and she will forever be known as Saint Sadie. She was perfect.

Ds's plans for the future always include having a black lab and a Rottweiler. We currently have a chihuahua who bless him is not the easiest character.

KatherineOfGaunt · 02/01/2021 16:37

I'm sure, @RafaIsTheKingOfClay . They'd be so happy to pass the buck.

Goingcrazzy · 02/01/2021 16:37

I am not a dog person but this sounds very sweet!

Been wondering rafals. There may have even been a handshake and shared media strategy agreed between unions and dfe. Paranoid? Me?

Love it and impressed with David Lammy on this.
Goingcrazzy · 02/01/2021 16:46

@panicking not heard there would be one. Unless there's a u-turn...

Panickingpavlova · 02/01/2021 16:47

Thanks

I find his voice and laugh a little cringe but he's on the ball today. 100%

Totally agree!

@TheHoneyBadger don't apologise! You definitely need to let it out. ❤️🍷🤗

cornercupboard · 02/01/2021 17:00

Our gaslighty twat had has just emailed to say that "regretabbly" we must now wear masks in communal areas, parents are to be encouraged to wear them too at drop off (they are already asked to do this but don't) and we must clean the sinks once an hour. Eh??????
1:1 TAs who "absolutely find they must" may wear PPE when having physical contact. Hahahahahaha! So the rest of the time we can just whip off the mask and Bob's your uncle.

Sheesh.

Hercwasonasnowball · 02/01/2021 17:01

Catching up here..

Honey I'd have a chat with her. I have in the past with similar TAs and explained that I'm in charge of behaviour etc. It's an awkward conversation but needs to be had. As an NQT I asked the TA line manager to have a word.

Loving the dog/insult pics.
No word stil here so anxious but know whatever happens I'll cope.

Piggywaspushed · 02/01/2021 17:03

My local (elected LD) mayor is urgently requesting a review of non closure of primary schools in our borough. As is the Labour MP.

TheHoneyBadger · 02/01/2021 17:07

Thanks for advice herc. I'm 45 and think my behaviour management is good compared to many so I definitely don't need rescuing. I'm really not shouty and therefore if I ever do get shouty there's a bit of a everyone holding their breath reaction. Kind of undermined by out of nowhere shouting from others.

Monkeytennis97 · 02/01/2021 17:10

@KatherineOfGaunt that made me laugh!

SaltyAF · 02/01/2021 17:11

I'm going to have to step away from the main boards. There are one or two posters that I've taken an absolute personal loathing to. That they can dig their heels on and argue that teachers are idle and shouldn't be paid while Covid cases surge, simply demonstrates tonne that they are intellectually limited. The vitriol makes me feel ill.
