You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

OMG Katherine that is FAB! Grin

If there was anyone techie that could put together a video to go with it of I dunno, packed schools and infection rate graphs...and Gavin disappearing round corners?

OnehorseopenBobsleigh · 30/12/2020 12:07

@KatherineOfGaunt
Amazing - can't wait til lockdown's over, I'll be coming to your next gig!

flumposie · 30/12/2020 12:08

@SmileEachDay I'm in the exact position. We were supposed to put KS3 classes into new ability groups next week so teams not even set up for them. I have no clue if I'm setting work for them or my old classes. We were told we would get an email with the plan this week. Still checking my emails hourly. No planning for me.

That would make my absolute week, if someone did that!
Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 12:11

Ugh, someone on a FB group really annoyed me by spouting the Henny line that schools are controlled environments and she has just been out and seen lots of children and teenagers mixing and they wouldn't be able to do that at schools but if schools were closed they would. I am afraid I uttered the classic 'parents need to parent' line.

My DS will go from seeing literally no one to 100s net week. Schools controlled. ROFL.

noblegiraffe · 30/12/2020 12:13

schools are controlled environments

Seen that on here too. Do they have no fucking clue? Oh, it'll be worse when kids are out of school because they'll be having sleepovers. With 30 other kids? I don't think so.

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 12:14

Hahah KoG Grin

SmileEachDay · 30/12/2020 12:16

It’s certainly made me realise how important being able to get ahead is to my stress management!!

I just couldn't justify spending hours on a video when I have planning to do today! Grin

Glad y'all like it! Not my best singing as I was trying to disguise my voice slightly, just in case anyone here recognised me. And the low voice isn't my DH, it's me but I pitch-lowered the vocals Grin

NeurotreeWenceslas · 30/12/2020 12:19

That's amazing Katherine!!!!!

SmileEachDay · 30/12/2020 12:23

KoG that is outstanding

Now, who’s going to tweet it at the DfE?

WhenSheWasBad · 30/12/2020 12:27

Katherine, that’s so good.

DecemberStar · 30/12/2020 12:31

Parents in PUAUS group asking for help deciphering messages from school asking permission to test their children and /or whether they want to volunteer to help.

They don't know what the tests consist of, they're scared that they may be compulsory.

I know these particular parents may be "the ones who never read the letter", but it's not good enough really, is it?

Thanks everyone for helping me hold it together last night. I'd had a drink as well which never helps - think I need to go tea total again, as I know I'm more stable if off the booze.
We've been enjoying ice and sliding this morning out in the fresh air. I've also made fresh bread and cleaned the house. Kids now have screen time while I chill. Always feels better for getting out in nature and having a clean house.
Hope everyone is ok today FlowersCakeBrew

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 30/12/2020 12:49

Wow, that song is cool. Get it on Twitter or something - it needs to be out there!

I've just been for a really long walk too. Necessary today. Now I'm going to record all my science lessons for the term. Woohoo.

Oh, and swearing - I'm AWFUL. A total potty mouth. My school is full of potty mouths.
