You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

My dad has the Millenium Falcon.. IN THE LOFT. As an investment. I mean, really.

MrsChristmasHamlet · 26/12/2020 18:42

Wow. I was just looking at the Colosseum. 9000 pieces. £450!!

Achristmaspudsskidu · 26/12/2020 18:53

@MrsChristmasHamlet

Friend of mine has just told me that her HT has summoned SLT to a teams meeting TONIGHT to discuss testing in January!!!
On Boxing Day-omg! I’d have told them where to go! Or logged on pissed...
DecemberStar · 26/12/2020 18:58

Just imagine what your school's plans would end up looking like Apuss! Oh wait, probably better than Gav's own.....

DecemberStar · 26/12/2020 18:59

Sorry, Apuds

I’m sure my pissed plans for education would be a great improvement on anything that numpty could come up with!!

I think most of our EYFS children could also come up with a better plan with a couple of crayons Grin

Adult Lego is amazing, I think it is technically called creator expert - I love the modular buildings. The Lego ideas kits are also mostly aimed at adults, my favourite is the treehouse.

MrsHercYulePoirot · 26/12/2020 19:40

My kids love Lego. DD (11) spends hours playing with it every day. She builds the kits, keeps them like that for a bit hit mostly builds her own things from scratch. She’d really like some technics lego - but it all seems to be cars and I think she really like something else that isn’t a vehicle tbh.

-There should be a law against that!

I love Lego. Have to hold myself back from helping too much! I often buy DH Lego for his birthday - my SIL spent £500 on Lego for her DH this Christmas - I normally spend £20 🤣

GleamingBaubles · 26/12/2020 19:59

As I look around the (admittedly not large) lounge - every surface has either books, Lego, or both. Including the floor 🤣

MrsChristmasHamlet · 26/12/2020 20:01

Right...I'm on my way. I have cheese and gin with which to pay for Lego playing time.

GleamingBaubles · 26/12/2020 20:02

🤣🤣🤣 I don't like gin - but you'd be shoed in with cheese!

DecemberStar · 26/12/2020 20:09

OK, when we party those who have, please bring Lego! I'm not into it these days but DS used to appoint me 'chief finder of the right pieces' as he built. We have a Technics ferry thing which is quite exciting, trouble is it took so much effort to build he wouldn't be persuaded to take it apart to build the alternative vehicle which has instructions online.

Both children used to build little fantasy worlds together and play for days with them together. Ah, the pre-teen years.....

MrsChristmasHamlet · 26/12/2020 20:16

My sister had the trains and planes and police station and other emergency stuff; I had restaurants and shops and stables. It was so fun.

BreadSaucery · 26/12/2020 20:18

I have a visceral reaction to the sound of Lego . I share a house with 2 Lego Fans, however so that sucks Grin

Ermagerd, the creators of Zoom need a knighthood or something. We were all there, virtually, doing what we always do on Boxing Day and there was a Massive Announcement and I might have cried. A bit.

BreadSaucery · 26/12/2020 20:19

Did anyone have the Space Lego? I still have some Moon Surface bases somewhere and the little helmets were brilliant!

GleamingBaubles · 26/12/2020 20:20

Aww BreadSaucery - that's lovely

We had the space Lego when I was younger - was gutted when my parents gave it away when I was at uni!

BreadSaucery · 26/12/2020 20:26

It would be worth a fortune now! (I sound like my Dad, with his Matchbox cars that my Granny threw away Grin ).
I think it was the start of a slippery slope, however, where Lego was more shaped according to a theme? Like the Moon craters and the nose of the rockets etc.

GleamingBaubles · 26/12/2020 20:27

I had one little blue spaceman - he was my favourite. All the others were black, grey and white I think 🤣

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 26/12/2020 20:28

I wouldn't mind wrestling with some Lego, having spent half an hour attempting to get a "smart" bulb to connect to the app.

MrsChristmasHamlet · 26/12/2020 20:34

We put it all in a computer box about ten years ago and gave it to my friend's then 9 year old son. His eyes nearly rolled out of his head :)

My Sindy house (made for me by mum) is still in the loft at home. I'd rather play with Lego though

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 26/12/2020 20:41

We were space lego all the way.

MrsHercYulePoirot · 26/12/2020 22:50

I’ve got the women of nasa kit to build!

MrsChristmasHamlet · 26/12/2020 22:52

That sounds amazing! I've just watched Hidden Figures again

hedgehogger1 · 26/12/2020 23:14

I used to build space hotels (with fields of horses as you do) for the people on my brothers space ships to come and stay in.
