You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

MrsHercYulePoirot · 26/12/2020 23:27

I LOVE that film!

GleamingBaubles · 26/12/2020 23:45

Sounds like a film I'd enjoy. Smile

I used to make "coloniser transportation" ships with our space Lego (with every conceivable mod con for zero gravity) while my brother made fighter ships to protect the fleet! Grin

I do actually have a set upstairs for my goddaughter's birthday - but I think it might be a disappointment! I want a big scary set!

TheEchtMeaningofChristmas · 27/12/2020 03:46

Although a rather Aussie reference, I was in Bunnings (think B&Q) today and they were selling "lego" Bunnings boxes - construct your own DIY hangar.

Now I think of it, I imagine they're piggy-backing on the fame of "Bluey", where the family sometimes go to the Hammer Barn, which is Bunnings in disguise. Appropriately the family I saw whose children were entranced by the building kit were bought a single box they had to share.

Very "Bluey". Smile

Hello all, meet Xmas and I hope you're all suitable rotund.

So sorry to read about your friend's baby and the floods .piggy. That's just awful. I hope she's ok and finding support.

Ahhh Lego. We swim in Lego. I've had to work out a full time Lego management system. And we are rearranging half the house to accommodate it so I can get a puppy Ds1 got into it a bit too young but is alllllll he wants.

We had our first tears last night as Dh grappled with a ninjago boat that's full of working cogs and basically a small machine. He had almost broken it to get something else attached. It's the first one ds1 hasn't been able to do himself for a long time and he's desperate to get it done. 4 packs to go I think.

(Tears were ds but Dh was close)

Ds2, the master destroyer, is eyeing it. It's going to be a NY challenge to keep him away from it and stop Ds1 from having a meltdown.

I loved Lego, mum still has all out stuff and also a lot of the boxes as well as instructions!

I particularly LOVE how the space man in Lego movie two has a broken helmet.

Piggyinblankets · 27/12/2020 07:43

What does that Torygraph headline say? The only word I can read is Williamson.

HailFairy · 27/12/2020 08:00

We are all about the Lego here too. It all seems to have got a bit out of hand this Christmas and DS now has the entire current HP Lego collection (bar Diagon Alley which is just too £££).

We’ve got the clock tower and astronomy tower still to build, finished the burrow yesterday and today’s job is the Hogwarts Express apparently. I am allowed to (indeed, must) find all the pieces but am never allowed to actually place any on the model. Still, it’s rather soothing.

HailFairy · 27/12/2020 08:01

@Piggyinblankets something like ‘warns of massive battle to avert school lockdown in new year’

Battle to avert school lockdown? Is the narrative going to be all about the evil unions damaging kids again?

Piggyinblankets · 27/12/2020 08:08

Thank you!

Yes, I assume the evil Geoff Barton will prevent Price Charming from heroically keeping schools open.

RigaBalsam · 27/12/2020 08:08

If you magic eye it and zoom in you can just about read it.

Crunch meeting tomorrow it says.

RigaBalsam · 27/12/2020 08:12

Gav is trying to keep them open. Bloody hell. Why are the making him out as a hero and anything other than incompetent!

HailFairy · 27/12/2020 08:15

Oh thanks Riga. Seems to only be about secondaries as well.

Piggyinblankets · 27/12/2020 08:39

I like the way the DT has polarised this by calling people lockdowners. What does that make Gavin? A freedom fighter or an arsehole? You choose.

Lockdowners = scientists.

Piggyinblankets · 27/12/2020 08:40

I don't know what magic eye it means?

RigaBalsam · 27/12/2020 08:43

@Piggyinblankets

I don't know what magic eye it means?
Move your pupils in and out like looking at a magic eye picture to try and read the blur.🙈
BreadSaucery · 27/12/2020 08:43

those unreasonable lockdowners, just wanting to be careful until the imminent approval and rollout of vaccines. What are they like, the scientific worry-warts?

Piggyinblankets · 27/12/2020 08:53

I imagine Gavin wandering the DfE telling anyone who will listen about his 'huge battle' and how great he is. More than any other MP ,apart from the PM perhaps, I can imagine what he was like at school and university. Tedious and undeservedly arrogant.

Hercwasonasnowball · 27/12/2020 08:56

piggy He sounds much like our executive HT.

"behaviour is excellent" is a line he frequently trots out. Much to the bewilderment of the actual teachers!

TheHoneyBadger · 27/12/2020 08:58

Lockdowners ffs. How infantile and crass in the face of the numbers of deaths and hospital admissions.

I can't predict what will happen. Sanity would say at least a fortnights delay to see where figures are going and to have a bit of a fire break but they've ignored sane thinking before so?? Who knows.

I just slept for 12 hours Shock

Piggyinblankets · 27/12/2020 08:59

ST reporting teachers to be added to priority vaccine list.

There is a calculator online to work out when you might otherwise get vaccinated. CV DH would be March - May. I'm basically never...
