You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

They can’t continue to use these tests now that news is out, can they?!

How can they say they are useful?

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 22/12/2020 17:14

So we will get kids together in halls for a period of time so the government can use up a load of test kits that don’t work. DfE employees are getting £1k bonus payments to provide guidance on how to how to do this.

Just rubbish

Jinglingmod · 22/12/2020 17:17

It's beyond rubbish, isn't it? Not just gathering kids in halls but also putting them on buses, trains and tubes with the general public and kids from other schools or bubbles within their own. Not gonna exponential transmission at all, is it?

DreamingofBrie · 22/12/2020 17:20

This is the problem. I have a lot of cheese for one person. Gin and cheese isn't quite as good. Sigh.

Cheese and Wine though? Thanks to my sisters I now have another 6 blocks of cheese in my fridge and a bottle of port.

Noel, absolutely wouldn't put it past the government to try and palm dodgy tests off onto schools.

And woohoo to all of our Scottish colleagues, who have finally finished for Christmas!

DecemberStar · 22/12/2020 17:24

I didn't know about the originally proposed mass testing centres using LFTs! I know they were /are?? saying to use them for care home visitors, then some LAs stopped that because of concerns about accuracy.

PORT! Hmm mm.

Maybe after the testing road trip and the summer party on the hill we could hold a more formal affair where we could all buy the longed for swishy frocks (or not, @CountDuckulasCranberrySauce - hope have got right poster there?) and drink port and eat good cheese.... 🧀 🍷 💃

MrsChristmasHamlet · 22/12/2020 17:27

Don't forget our trip to the holiday home somewhere hot which I can't now recall
The fridge stinks. It's in the garage but I'm sure I can smell the cheese in the house 🤣

Piggyinblankets · 22/12/2020 17:35

MNHQ needs urgently to clamp down on the corona denying threads! Rife on the board! So much statistical and scientific bollocks.

CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 22/12/2020 17:38

Yes star, a long swishy frock would be my worst nightmare. Apart from anything else I would definitely trip over it and end up faceplanted in the formally elegant centerpiece. Think I could manage a tuxedo though Smile

Piggyinblankets · 22/12/2020 18:05

I am so conflicted about DS and this testing.

I don't know whether I should contact his school asking them if they are unaware of the massive question marks over this test?

I am NOT happy about DS being sent back to a school where students are no longer SI off the back of these shit 'only fit for the 3rd world ' tests.

Plus they have said he will need to go for two appointments in the first week back to be tested. Not sure how that will work if I am at work!

MsAwesomeReindeer · 22/12/2020 18:12

I didn't even wear a long squishy dress for my own wedding. Can I wear a short dress instead? With comfy shoes.

The accuracy of the LFT is appalling isn't it? I can believe that the government would force them into schools just to use them up though, it's a typically despicable thing to do.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 22/12/2020 18:15

I absolutely would.

I am a bit stunned actually. When I saw the news this afternoon saying the government are halting plans to use these tests in the community because of their unreliability, I’m horrified that hasn’t translated to mean they won’t be used in schools EITHER Confused

TheLuckiest · 22/12/2020 18:17

Oh bollocks. Results came back and I'm positive.

Very quick result though. Only did the test yesterday!!

I have cheese, wine, chutneys and Netflix to ride out this wave....

DecemberStar · 22/12/2020 18:33

Like yr style @CountDuckulasCranberrySauce!

Oh am sorry to hear that @TheLuckiest . Take care.

R4 this evening reporting in terms of LFTs questionable to be used anywhere including schools. Said all 4 nations' plans for schools "currently in a holding pattern".

@Piggyinblankets I'd wait a few days and see what transpires.

Oh bugger luckiest. I hope you don't feel too ill with it. Flowers

I've got a sore throat and a headache, and have just had a bit of a coughing fit. I don't know if the coughing is going to persist, but I'm thinking it might be worth booking a test for tomorrow.

starrynight19 · 22/12/2020 18:45

Oh no luckiest hope it’s just a mild case and you get to enjoy Christmas in some way Flowers
