You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

@WhenSheWasBad remind us what year/age/subject. Am sure someone here will have some helpful tips!

Piggyinblankets · 23/12/2020 11:32

Boiler fixed but had to speak to plumber via phone as I was stuck waiting in my car for my cats to emerge form the vet as they could not possibly ahve human beings in a vet! I was there for two hours!! They said they brought the cats out to my car and I was not there. Ermmmm... no. They did have the wrong phone number for me which didn't help. I have two very cross cats now.

PumpkinPie2016 · 23/12/2020 11:34

Glad you have heating now @PiggyinblanketsXmas Smile

I delivered the final few presents to doorsteps today (still in tier 3 here). Just need to wrap DHs and DS's now Xmas Grin

TheEchtMeaningofChristmas · 23/12/2020 11:45

OMG, my head is on the table.

Dental abscess. Soooo much pain. Need to hold it off until tomorrow

7.00.a.m queue up for Christmas Day seafood

8.00 a.m. Beg for dental treatment.

hedgehogger1 · 23/12/2020 11:53

@DecemberStar

Btw, when you inform students they have to isolate as close contacts, do they get a call home from an SLT member, followed by email with the official stuff (as our school), or just an email/text (as a neighbouring school)?

Various parents last night in our Zoom church group asking each other, 'Have you checked yr emails today?' 'Oo no, hope there wasn't one for us as DD's been out shopping today!'

I was a bit Shock.

Just a text. Pandemonium in our village when some isolating kids were in the co op wit their parents. Especially as at least one of them then went on to test positive
noelgiraffe · 23/12/2020 11:53

Sorry to hear that, echt, and sorry to Luckiest and others with covid. Hope you all feel better soon.

noelgiraffe · 23/12/2020 11:54

How come you lot are all loading your trolleys with seafood and fancy cheeses and I’m loading mine with cocktail sausages and fancy flavours of Pringles?

Piggywaspushed · 23/12/2020 11:56

I'm Pringles too, don't worry!

MNHQ haven't replied to my polite enquiry as to why the primary thread was allowed to stand given its awful insinuations about teachers needing to die in its OP

TheEchtMeaningofChristmas · 23/12/2020 11:59

Thanks, noelgiraffe, I'm up to the gills with painkillers, which is not an abscess solution but will tide me over tonight (11.00) until I can get something better.

Best wishes to all those with Covid.

DreamingofBrie · 23/12/2020 12:00

7.00.a.m queue up for Christmas Day seafood

I remember spending Boxing Day at Bondi Beach once. Happy memories!

Noel, if it helps, my dc are getting leftover macaroni cheese and fish finger sandwiches for lunch today.

'More explosive' outbreaks of new COVID-19 in schools
Professor Neil Ferguson has said there have been "anecdotal reports" of "more explosive" outbreaks of the coronavirus in schools in the London and the south east in recent weeks.
These are the areas where the new strain of the coronavirus is most prevalent.
Earlier this month, education secretary Gavin Williamson ordered the Royal Borough of Greenwichh_ in London to keep schools open after the council had urged them to shut.

BustopherPonsonbyJones · 23/12/2020 12:01

Happy Christmas, Rule
Never upset the cats, piggy. They hold grudges. Think about your behaviour when you are having a nice, warm bath.
Hope you feel better soon, Echt and your dentist can find you an appointment.

MsAwesomeReindeer · 23/12/2020 12:02

I'm not even as posh as Pringles lol. We have cheese (fairly bog standard cheese), dairylea dunkers, and supermarket own brand cheese puffs. We don't do sophisticated food in my house. I do have pigs in blankets for Christmas Day, and am planning on making a cheesecake with dd2.

noelgiraffe · 23/12/2020 12:03

dreaming that would be more of a comfort if mine weren’t getting leftover dominos pizza Blush Grin

Piggywaspushed · 23/12/2020 12:04

Hallelujah, the nasty thread is going!!

I do wish anxious ones would also stop beginning threads. The nasties pile on there.

Next time, mind, someone ask how many school staff have dies I am going to ask them for up to date stats on all workers. The gov and the media are hiding all deaths of working age people from view.

noelgiraffe · 23/12/2020 12:06

Well done piggy!

U4T really are a grim outfit.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 23/12/2020 12:12

Missed that one. What was it about (or can I guess)?

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 12:13

Pringles all the way for us (counting down years to when they leave and I can have what I want to eat!)

I'm guessing that today's announcement (not even reported by Beeb yet, website at least?) will be much harsher measures almost everywhere, but they'll suck the blow by saying they'll be "making announcements about schools next week" or something.

Although the Heads' webinar this afternoon would be interesting to hear.

noelgiraffe · 23/12/2020 12:14

The ‘no justification for shutting primaries’ Ange

Flowerblue · 23/12/2020 12:15

Tracked down the lactose free Pringles for dd (nearly all of them have milk powder in). Stilton for dh. Bitter mints for me.

BustopherPonsonbyJones · 23/12/2020 12:18

Although U4T have always looked ridiculous to us, I get the feeling they are losing general support with their comments and stupid threads at the moment. I think (hope?) their time is done.

ChloeDeckTheHalls · 23/12/2020 12:22

Really sorry to hear about your positive test Luckiest I hope symptoms are kind to you.

Dental pain is awful echt Sad

MK has written a fairly horrible article in the DF today-she’s the founder of U4T.

I don’t know why I even glance at that horrible rag-I like to know what the idiots are talking about, but it makes me so bloody cross.
