You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I was going to make a comment about the DfE in the title but after today's announcements, I will leave that until the next Republic.

On the plus side Strictly wasn't delayed

Thanks Santa. You are correct, this will indeed be a very tough term. I'm glad we've got each other to help each other through it all.

Welcome, welcome

Some christmas break this will be - god knows what we are meant to plan for the first couple of weeks back. Some year 11 and 13, some online, some testing, rubbish attendance ..... as for exams ..

Thank you, @SantaAssociationRepresentitve

I am popping up again, because I can't believe the last 48 hours, really, with all the announcements. I have been incredibly depressed recently so not been on MN much. But now I feel I would like some company.

I hope everyone is doing okay.

KnowingMeKnowingYule · 19/12/2020 22:21

Thanks @SantaAssociationRepresentitve Hic.

Hello all. I'm so tired I have nothing to say except sympathetic murmurings towards those going into tier 4.its so shit.

Ah, OK, so, it's Cristina Pagel (iSAGE member, applies maths to healthcare problems) on Twitter at 4pm today:

If... the science is worrying as hinted at, then it will require a whole re-think of how we cope in Jan and Feb. Inc schools and unis maybe :(

MrsChristmasHamlet · 19/12/2020 23:13

Thanks, Santa

phlebasconsidered · 19/12/2020 23:17

Hope everyone is well.

So sorry for secondary teachers who are now at the last minute planning online lessons and all of those going into tier 4.

I am panicking a bit because I will be at work in primary but my two kids won't in secondary. Last lockdown they were in as keyworker kids but i've not heard anything so far. I wouldn't mind them being at home (they would just eat everything and do no work) if it were not for mum as well. Her carer pops in from a company based in a higher tier so now I have to check on that and also I don't want to leave them with the responsibility of mum.

I am so glad to not be at school. I had 40 winks on the sofa today and walked the dog, getting my first real actual daylight exercise in ages.

To those about to tier 4: I salute you.

Loshad · 19/12/2020 23:35

@phlebasconsidered, your dc can definitely go into school if you want them too. Don’t think any school has had time to really sort that out yet.
Hugs to all the tier 4 chaps.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 20/12/2020 02:18

Tier 4 here-I actually feel really sad tonight :(
