He just forgets the trivial detail about the serf class/ little people who don't matter...

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 24/11/2020 20:53

Me and my MP are on first name terms now. Haha.

I've now invited him into school, but he has to come without a mask.

mumsneedwine · 24/11/2020 21:08

Lewis Goodhall is asking for DMs from teachers on Twitter. He's getting more vocal for us.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 24/11/2020 21:15

Really? Excellent. Off to DM him now.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 24/11/2020 21:18

Actually can't - can't open Twitter - am watching the Bake Off final an hour late, don't want spoilers.

Although Laura really shouldn't be there.

Piggywaspushed · 24/11/2020 21:22

I ahve unexpectedly good news!

Drumroll.

My dishwasher spontaneously started working again.

Just hoping the man doesn't turn up and demand paying tomorrow.

noblegiraffe · 24/11/2020 21:25

I got told to shove my graph up my arse on another thread. This has amused me greatly.

I've never DMed anyone or tweeted anyone on twitter, I don't even know how to. God I'm useless.

Piggywaspushed · 24/11/2020 21:39

Literally told to do that??

noblegiraffe · 24/11/2020 21:40

Yes Grin the comment is now sadly deleted.

Augustbreeze · 24/11/2020 21:41

One of our cleaners has been pinged, has to isolate for a week. The company won't pay her.

WhyNotMe40 · 24/11/2020 21:43

See!? This is what is wrong FFS. If we paid people decent money to self isolate, people would be queueing up to do it!
That is apparently how Sweden managed to avoid lockdown - properly decent sick pay and paid parental leave

WhyNotMe40 · 24/11/2020 21:44

Youngest has woken up snotty and upset. Going to be a looooong night

Augustbreeze · 24/11/2020 21:50

Oh dear why not

WhyNotMe40 · 24/11/2020 21:52

Thanks. You know that thing where they can't breathe unless propped up on you? It gets a bit much when they're a solid 4yo! Grin

TaxTheRatFarms · 24/11/2020 22:01

Here’s the link for Lewis Goodall’s thread for anyone who needs it:

Deep in the comments is the inevitable “we just need to stop testing under 18s!” comment, which gave me a massive Mumsnet flashback Grin

TaxTheRatFarms · 24/11/2020 22:04

Oh no whynot definitely not what you need at the moment. Have you tried putting a pillow between you and them then sliding out betwixt sofa and pillow in a Houdini fashion? Helps if you can dislocate some joints at will!

WhyNotMe40 · 24/11/2020 22:08

Ooh I'll give it a go! Thanks

TaxTheRatFarms · 24/11/2020 22:14

Good luck whynot Smile Small and gentle motions! Wine

Here’s another interesting twitter thread - not news to any of us but it’s good that word is getting out.

How to utterly alienate every single school leader in one fell swoop.

TheHoneyBadger · 24/11/2020 22:31

Hope you got out why.

I'm trying to chill about the school stuff and get ready to sleep. Work in the morning. I've sent detailed moan to the head of teaching and learning (he of the 'low stakes assessment' gem) pointing out that we're basically advertising to our parents of year 8 and 9 how much their teachers care about their children's education and how much effort is made for their education after having had their years picked arbitrarily to have the school closed to them. Hope I haven't said too much but I'm disappointed and struggling to respect my colleagues who haven't bothered to set any lessons for them.

Meh. Will see folks in the morning maybe on the 31st republic if staff is about.

Just read the twitter summary - pretty succinct and accurate.

As my school is only able to be partly open does that mean under these new rules it must be shut? On or off implies if you can't be fully on you have to be off you'd have thought. All clear as mud as ever.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 24/11/2020 22:45

I've done some tweeting on Goodall's thread.

Augustbreeze · 24/11/2020 22:47

(Not sure if have just upset a main player on the Data thread, or whether s/he doesn't understand what I've said!)

I'm going to have to work hard at not screaming (literally and virtually) at people endlessly debating which three households they're going to celebrate Christmas with. Here it's just me and the DC, as normal. At one point in the day they'll see their dad and I'll be alone. At that point I usually visit my brother in his care home or go and spend a slightly strange couple of hours at somebody's house who's been kind enough to invite me, but who I don't actually know very well. Probably won't be doing either of those things.

Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. I do understand that everyone has their norm, and that it will be difficult for some families.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 24/11/2020 22:53

I'm so lucky that my family is full of heathens. Christmas isn't that important. I'd not like to be apart from my child on Christmas morning if I was isolating or something, but otherwise I'm easy about how it works.

OytheBumbler · 24/11/2020 22:54

Thanks for the email format Noble. I will send a personalised version of it it to my Tory-drone MP tomorrow. I have very low expectations of the response but hopefully it will add to the pressure.
